Still stressed about your finals? Take a quick break at the CCLA in CM188D and enjoy some retro games with a cup of tea or coffee to take the edge off, we won’t tell your professor! Maybe stay away from hard computer opponents to keep things relaxing!
Happy Tuesday everyone! Make sure to take a break from studying to stop by the CCLA in CM188D to try your hand at breaking into our winter holiday themed secure box for some free stuff! Can you solve the puzzles?

Does anyone need a coding center in a box? This week on #RSEStories, we interview @AdamErck from @DoaneCCLA to get a different perspective on #rseng at smaller schools - hint, he's working on creating this center in a box for other institutions! us-rse.org/rse-stories/2019/… @us_rse ☕️

What's it like to develop software in graduate school? How does a student choose between academic & industry? For the second episode of #rseng stories we interview Chris Dembia, a developer for @OpenSimSU at @Stanford. us-rse.org/rse-stories/2019/… Grab your coffee, join for a listen!

Can I participate in a jam if I know nothing about computer science? YES! There is no better way to start than a low-risk environment where you're not being graded. Not to mention, there are others with more experience willing to help you find the tools that will work for you.
1
What else can code jams do for me? Most jams aren't pure code but rather game jams. You take programming concepts like functions and loops and apply them to a concrete example to learn how things work. The real application of the theoretical knowledge cements both effectively!
1
What can code jams do for me? Learning programming in today's world is essential! You learn in each jam a rapid method of solving everyday problems, tackle unique challenges, improve critical thinking skills, learn to work as a member of a team, and gain hands-on experience.
3
What is a code jam? Each 'jam' is a timed event to create a finished product within the rules of that jam. Most jams have a theme, typically kept a secret until the jam starts. Work on a project as a team or individual within the theme and rules included! Remember to have fun!

Are you curious about how computers work and want an easy and stress-free way to learn about how they work? Partner up with a programmer here at Doane and participate in a Code Jam! Hosted by itch.io/jams, find a Jam that grabs your attention and jump in with a friend!

Thank you, everyone, with @spackpm for making it possible for schools like @DoaneUniversity to have an HPC on-site and help manage the complexity of package installation so we can focus on helping our researchers! 85 packages and counting in 6 months.
