Paul wrote this to a congregation, not to a lone believer (Colossians 1:2). Our singing on the Lord’s Day is more than a warm-up for the sermon. As we sing God’s truth to one another, we serve each other. What hymn has preached to you most? #LordsDay

From “Morning & Evening” by Charles H. Spurgeon. “We need not fear that the smallness of our number will put us out of the list of Churches, for the Holy Spirit has here enrolled a family-church in the inspired book of remembrance.”

Peters doesn’t stop at exposing error. In the same article he urges believers to pray that false teachers repent and come to know the truth (2 Timothy 2:24–26). Guard the flock firmly, and pray for the wolf’s repentance. #Discernment

From “Morning & Evening” by Charles H. Spurgeon. “Let not the doctrine that you, unaided, can do nothing, make you sleep; but let it be a goad in your side to drive you with an awful earnestness to Israel’s strong Helper.”

Pink wrote this on Christ’s cry from the cross, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” The Son was forsaken as the sin-bearer in His people’s place. That is why God can promise every believer, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

The “handwriting of requirements” was the record of debt that stood against us. God did not overlook it or lower it. He nailed it to the cross, where Christ paid it in full. Nothing written against the believer is still outstanding. #TheCross

From “Morning & Evening” by Charles H. Spurgeon. “To forget to praise God is to refuse to benefit ourselves; for praise, like prayer, is one great means of promoting the growth of the spiritual life.”
