Let’s get it on the record now.
If there’s a sixty game lockout in ‘27 but your favorite team wins the World Series… will the World Series count?
We say yes! Of course!
If you say no, please leave the name of your team in the comments.

Vin Scully tells the story of when Johnny Gomes survived a wolf attack without missing a beat of the play by play. Absolute masterclass.
This is my favorite Vin Scully clip.

Vin Scully noted the date for Fernando's grandchildren, then Valenzuela finished his 1990 no hitter against the Cardinals.
Dave Stewart had thrown one for the A's earlier that same night, and Scully told fans to throw their sombreros to the sky 🎙️

MLB putting out propaganda to convince fans who don’t understand fairly basic accounting and finance that the owners are the ones actually giving up more in their proposals.
And it’s working.

Have you hugged your new baseball book today? #Dodgers
A book for baseball fans of a certain age - #Dodgers fans - ages 10 to 110.
“If you love baseball, if you love the Dodgers especially, then you’ll love this book. ‘Off Base with Howard Cole: The First 25 Years’ is a charming, fun and sometimes melancholy tour in the life of a ballclub, but also of a fan. I can’t wait for ‘The Second 25 Years.’”

Baseball is literally the only sport that you can follow on radio as well as you can on TV
Replying to @DavidPSamson
@DavidPSamson says MLB no longer needs radio: "We don't need baseball on radio anymore." The former Marlins president predicts on Nothing Personal that "radio will go the way of Kodak and Blockbuster." @JohnMamola has more. #MLB

When I hear someone like @DavidPSamson say that we don’t need baseball on the radio, it drives me crazy.
We do need baseball on the radio, especially when people need seven or eight subscriptions to watch their teams.
We need baseball on the radio, so great young broadcasters like @JustinRocke @KeithRaad can grow.
We need baseball on the radio so we can go to the beach and listen to a game while watching the waves.
We need baseball on the radio so a legend like @davesims_ can do his thing for a whole new generation of Yankees fans.
We need baseball on the radio, period.
If it does ever go away, God forbid, it won’t be because we don’t need it, it will be because people like @DavidPSamson who sneer at the people who can’t afford the price of admission.
We need baseball on the radio.

43- year radio guy not thrilled to see someone throw dirt on my profession like this. Baseball is a sport maybe best captured by radio. Someone can paint the picture for a listener to take in. But of course,we’re the society with permanent neck issues staring at small screens and devices.

On this day in #Dodgers history:
October 30, 2024
Down 5-0 to the Yankees in Game 5, the Dodgers stormed back to win 7-6 and capture their 8th World Series title.
It remains the largest comeback EVER in a World Series-clinching victory.

After 20+ years behind the mic, I'll say it plainly: radio is still the most direct line from a team to its fans. It's in the car, on the job site, on the tractor. No paywall, no login, just a voice painting the picture. Baseball was built for that, and it still is. The game in its purest form.
