Rest in peace, Clineice Stubbs.
Clineice married Levi Stubbs of the legendary Four Tops in 1960. They remained married for 48 years, from the early days through superstardom until his death in 2008.
The Four Tops were one of the greatest vocal groups of all time. Just as Levi remained devoted to his wife, he remained loyal to his group. The original four stayed together until death separated them. Levi even turned down a major role in Lady Sings the Blues because he wanted his group included.
Their music, especially “I Can’t Help Myself,” influenced generations of artists, including the Beatles, Elton John, and the Rolling Stones. They were every bit as great as the Temptations, but without the drama, they rarely receive the same attention.
Through it all, Clineice stood by Levi. Lawrence, Obie, Duke, and Levi are all gone. The original Four Tops chapter is now closed, but they will live forever in sound.

Dr. Claud Anderson and Dr. Frances Cress Welsing warned us about the potential harm immigration could pose to Black Americans. They challenged us to examine how immigration policies affect our economic opportunities, political power, and ability to achieve self-determination.
