Update on the Red Baron guy, and it gets better. The man who started that GoFundMe, Luke Oakenshield, is a military veteran who's been homeless and sleeping in his car. A friend had to loan him $20 a few days ago just so he could move it. He still tracked Walt down and made sure the money went straight to him. Why? In his words, "because I know struggle." Walt's fund is past $650,000 now. And once folks learned Luke's story, they started one for him too. It's already past $30,000. A tired working man stood up to a prankster. A homeless vet stood up for him. Regular Americans stood up for both. That's the country I know. nitter.gq/KevinRich/status/21162…
A prankster fakes an Apple Pay charge on a Red Baron delivery guy who's stocking freezers, already an hour late getting home to his four kids, and expects him to laugh. He didn't. Good for him. Then regular Americans sent him more than $480,000, and Red Baron publicly said he's still on the team and has a fan club, "including us." The guy filming strangers for clicks? His account got shut down. That's this country at its best. "Prank" content is mostly harassment with a ring light. Respect people doing an honest day's work, and leave them alone.

An anti-diarrhea drug can kill aggressive brain cancer cells, new research reveals A common over-the-counter anti-diarrhea drug could hold the key to triggering self-destruction in aggressive brain tumor cells. In a compelling laboratory study, researchers from Goethe University Frankfurt discovered that loperamide—the active ingredient in over-the-counter anti-diarrhea medications like Imodium—can induce cell death in lab-grown glioblastoma cells. Glioblastoma is an aggressive form of brain cancer notorious for resisting conventional treatments. The team traced this anti-cancer effect to extreme stress placed upon the endoplasmic reticulum, an intracellular network responsible for protein manufacturing and folding. While cancer cells typically utilize cellular recycling processes like autophagy to survive harsh conditions, the excessive stress induced by loperamide effectively flipped this survival mechanism into a lethal self-destruction routine. The researchers determined that loperamide dramatically increases levels of ATF4, a key stress-response protein, which prompts the cell to engulf and digest large fragments of its own endoplasmic reticulum through a targeted process called reticulophagy. However, medical experts emphasize that this discovery does not mean taking loperamide can cure brain cancer. Loperamide faces significant physical barriers to entering the brain, and taking high doses is extremely dangerous, posing risks of life-threatening heart rhythm disorders. Nevertheless, mapping this specific cellular stress pathway provides valuable guidance for scientists aiming to engineer novel, targeted glioblastoma therapies that safely exploit the same mechanism. source: Meyer, N., et al. (2021). ATF4 links ER stress with reticulophagy in glioblastoma cells. Autophagy, 17(9), 2432-2448.

*THE SUN WAS DARKENED. AN EMPEROR TREMBLED. AND A MAN FROM HEAVEN DIED.* Nearly 2,000 years ago, during the very years in which Jesus Christ was crucified, something extraordinary was recorded in the imperial chronicles of China. In AD 31, under Emperor Guangwu of the Han dynasty, the sun was eclipsed. The ancient Chinese record declares: “In the day of Gui Hai, the last day of the month, there was a solar eclipse. [The emperor] avoided the Throne Room, suspended all military activities and did not handle official business for five days.” — History of the Later Han Dynasty, Chronicles of Emperor Guangwu, Year 7. Imagine the scene. The emperor of one of the greatest civilizations on earth, surrounded by his armies, ministers, and imperial splendour, was so shaken by the darkening of the heavens that he withdrew from his throne room. For FIVE DAYS, the affairs of his empire were suspended. He trembled before Heaven, confessing his own unworthiness. Then came an astonishing imperial proclamation: “Yin and Yang have mistakenly switched, and the sun and moon were eclipsed. The sins of all the people are now on one man. Pardon is proclaimed to all under heaven.” — History of the Later Han Dynasty, Vol. 1. Read those words again. *The sins of all the people are now on one man.* *Pardon is proclaimed to all under heaven.* And there is something still more extraordinary. An ancient omen text preserved in the Chinese historical commentary contains these amazing words: “Eclipse on the day of Gui Hai, Man from Heaven died”. — History of the Later Han, Astronomical Annals, No. 18. Now turn your thoughts from China to Jerusalem. There hangs the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, crucified beneath a darkened heaven. From the sixth hour until the ninth, darkness covered the land. The earth shook. The rocks were rent. The veil of the temple was torn in two. And there, upon that accursed tree, the sins of God's elect were laid upon ONE MAN. Not an earthly emperor trembling beneath Heaven's judgment, but the King of kings bearing divine judgment in the place of His people. Not an imperial pardon issued by a frightened ruler, but everlasting forgiveness purchased by the precious blood of Christ. What extraordinary words to find in the chronicles of ancient China during the very generation of the crucifixion! Consider the sovereign providence of God. He who appointed the hour of Christ's death also governs the sun, moon, and stars. Not one heavenly body moves without His decree. Not one emperor reigns independently of His will. While the kings of the earth trembled beneath the heavens, the Lord of heaven and earth was accomplishing the redemption of His Church. And the pardon purchased at Calvary would eventually be proclaimed throughout the nations, even to the distant shores of China. *“The LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” — Isaiah 53:6.* The heavens declare the glory of God. And history itself unfolds according to His eternal decree.

This is genuinely one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Fox News thought they were interviewing a Trump supporter, and this man went on national television to explain that he showed up just to witness the MAGA cult in its natural habitat. I'm crying laughing.
Fox: Why are you here this morning? Trump rally attendee: Well, in the late 70s, I was a little too young to go to South America for the Jonestown Massacre. But this is as close as I'll ever get, so that's why I'm here. There's nothing like seeing a cult right up front.

BREAKING: Japan to urge all citizens to stockpile at least 3 days of food and water in preparation for major disasters and events, with an official emergency request set for November 2. "At least three days, and I'd like to say a week if possible… please prepare food, toilets, and water properly at home even without public assistance," Japan's Disaster Management says. It comes just 2 days after the Pentagon started to prepare every major US military base to operate for at least 90 days without outside electricity, fuel, water or supplies, anticipating a major war. The UK launched the "Be Ready" program 5 days ago, also advising all citizens to keep 3 days of key supplies, including bottled water, non-perishable food, and a battery or wind-up FM radio.

Mike Tomlin ain’t fuckin around on TV. Absolutely LOVE how candid he is being. Industry went way too hard towards fluff - just afraid to piss people & sponsors off… but Tomlin is bringing REAL analysis back, where you are actually honest & upfront about the things you are saying & presenting
“Najee Harris spoke out and now he’s unemployed.” Man, I’m not going to lie, I knew Tomlin would be great on TV but him being unafraid to take shots at anyone (including his own guys) makes him 100x better. Just a match made in heaven.

POTENTIAL WARTIME DISRUPTIONS: The United States and Britain are separately preparing for disruptions that could leave military installations and households without essential services, as Western governments respond to potential wartime threats and risks to critical infrastructure. The Pentagon is developing plans requiring major U.S. military bases to operate independently for at least 90 days if war or cyberattacks disrupt electricity, water, communications, and supply chains, according to a report. Meanwhile, Britain is urging households to stockpile enough food, drinking water, and other emergency supplies to manage at least three days without essential services.
