A reminder that criticism is its own thing. It is not just "failed artists," and when you make that kind of claim, it seems pathetic. You don't have to read critics. You also don't have to be a fucking baby when you make something they don't like.
Taika Waititi is slamming "Klara and the Sun" critics as "sad lost souls who couldn’t achieve their dreams of becoming artists":
“I haven’t read a review of anything aimed at me or my peers in almost 15 years. But I do listen to the people. So this Halloween, let’s spare a thought for those sad lost souls who couldn’t achieve their dreams of becoming artists, and thus became critics. The same people who also hated Jojo Rabbit. Irrelevant. Out of touch. Obsolete. In the bin.”

It will be at least 40 years before our loved and lovely America recovers from the wounds this selfish, stupid, and ego-driven man has inflicted. That it will recover seems certain to me, but it will leave scars.

Licence to Kill is god-tier Bond, and Dalton's sewing of seeds of mistrust in Robert Davi's drug lord Franz Sanchez, a plot inspired by Yojimbo, makes for some of the best acting in the entire series

A piece very close to my heart: for @letterboxd, I took a deep dive to investigate the myth that the wide availability of captions at home has seeped into theatrical exhibition, the strides still needed when it comes to accessibility and the fascinating logistics of captioning.
Subtitles are regularly switched on for at-home viewing, but still scarce on the big screen.
In our latest Big Picture essay, @rafiews meets captioning champions to find out what gets lost in translation and how to push film accessibility forward ➡️ boxd.it/1S2
