ALT 3rd grade student came to lesson tonight, obviously sick. When I asked him if he stayed home from school today, he said "I can't tell you." I asked if he was sick. He said "I'm going to say no" He eventually did say that he DID stay home from school today because he had the FLU. I sent him back out to the car and mom said "No, he stayed home Monday, Tuesday and Wed....I mean Sunday, Monday and Tuesday." There was more back pedaling and | just told her that I wasn't able to teach him since he is sick. She was not happy. I was shocked and saddened that she told him to lie about it. Furthermore, it's in my policy that if a student is sick, just let me know and we can do an online lesson if they'd like to. Also....mom is a doctor's wife.
