On this day in 2011, Alberto Del Rio became a two-time WWE Champion.
Hell in a Cell took place in New Orleans and featured the first-ever Triple Threat Hell in a Cell for the WWE Title.
Del Rio pinned CM Punk after Ricardo Rodriguez slid a pipe into the cell. ADR clocked John Cena with it, locked him outside, then laid Punk out and took the three-count.
The celebration didn’t last. The cell came up, Cena got back in, and The Miz and R-Truth hoodies on, still raging over the “conspiracy” that got them fired stormed the ring and dropped the cell back down.
They wrecked Del Rio, Punk, Cena, refs, and cameramen until New Orleans police cut the lock and cuffed both of them. Triple H still got his shots in on the way.
Destiny for Del Rio. Handcuffs for The Miz.
