What a wonderful vote of confidence in opera — and a brilliant welcome for people who’ve never been. We have some excellent access schemes in London already; but could we dream this big too?
Never been to the opera before?
Now’s your chance. We’re giving away 70,000 free tickets to the @MetOpera at the iconic Lincoln Center. Go to on.nyc.gov/opera to enter the lottery. There’s not a bad seat in the house.

A “surreal experience”: Dorset charities describe the moment they met King Charles and Queen Camilla in Blandford.
Their Majesties visited the newly refurbished Corn Exchange to hear about the amazing work local organisations are doing - while also enjoying a bit of opera.

Jay Broadhurst, 24 from Dorset Opera Festival performed to the king and Queen.
He said: “It was possibly the most surreal experience of my life and a real honour to perform for Their Majesties.
“It was certainly a highlight of my fledgling career.”
Booking now open for Dorset Opera Festival 2026. Two glorious productions this July: L’elisir d’amore and Samson et Dalila. 21–25 July at Bryanston, Dorset dorsetopera.com/
Soothing noises that induce relaxation and joy... ocean waves, crackling fires, birdsong, wind in trees... and the ping on the office laptops when ticket sales are coming in. The July sunshine is a way off but priority booking is open dorsetopera.com
It’s a genuinely exciting moment when we can reveal our forthcoming season — and last night our Artistic Director, Rod Kennedy, did just that at our Patrons' Christmas party...
