James Talarico says America doesn't have capitalism anymore, it has crony capitalism, socialism for the rich and rugged individualism for the poor โ€œCapitalism was an innovation. I think we forget that now.โ€ โ€œWe don't have capitalism, at least not in this country. We have crony capitalism.โ€ โ€œWhere the gains in this economy go to those who can afford to buy access, who can afford to buy politicians for control.โ€ โ€œHe said, we have socialism for the rich, and we have rugged individualism for the poor.โ€ w/ @jamestalarico

This is the key point from Mamdani. Yeah, sure, obsess over swings and under and over performance all day long if thatโ€™s your thing. But once Dems have won, narrowly or not, what do those Dems do with actual power? Not just to improve peopleโ€™s lives but also to *stay* in power?
Zohran Mamdani: โ€œItโ€™s not enough for us as Democrats to win power. We have to use that power to deliver change that Americans can feel in their wallets. When you look at these campaigns, if we want to speak about James Talarico, he campaigned on a vision for universal childcare. If you want to talk about Keisha Lance Bottoms, she campaigned on a vision of cutting red tape to build housing. If you want to talk about Jocelyn Benson, she campaigned on a moratorium for data centers. What Iโ€™m excited to see now is a recognition that the work is only just starting and this has to be delivered for working people across the countryโ€

People seeking asylum will now have to pay an upfront fee of $1863.50 to lodge an appeal at the ART- that's 2 weeksโ€™ salary at min. wage. The new regulations came into effect over the weekend & put the most vulnerable people at risk of being sent back to the danger they fled.

The most exciting results in America are coming from candidates with a genuinely ambitious vision, who refused to water down their plans and trusted voters with big ideas on housing, healthcare and wages. These are times to be bold and go hard.
