U.S. local newspapers are dying at a rate of 2 per week. By 2025, a third of them will be gone. If you’re not convinced that’s a doomsday-level threat to democracy, read this state-by-state list of what local reporters uncovered in 2022. It’s a sample of what we stand to lose.

russelltroxel.com/writing/20… I just wrapped up a review on Wytchwood. It's a great game that lets you ruin awful people with magic, but keeps you in the crafting menu just a little too long. Check out the review for all the details

Incredibly grateful to be able to tell my story and honored that @jasonmendelson would give me the platform to do so. "How to be a Lawyer" coming Spring 2022, a must read for all aspiring lawyers.

russelltroxel.com/writing/20… Twelve Minutes is a lot of things: puzzle, time loop, and absolutely fucking weird. Check out my review for the details.

russelltroxel.com/writing/20… This week I spent my time with Library of Ruina by @ProjMoonStudio. Thanks to a solid mechanical base and a fantastic cast of characters and setting, I really enjoyed my time with the game. Check out my review for the details.

Today's the last day to apply for a key role at @flatwaterfreep. Our first hires -- reporters who know how to dig into a topic, ask tough questions and get things done -- will be the foundation upon which everything else is built.

russelltroxel.com/writing/20… In the real world, no one has all the answers to running a country. But video games are supposed to be more fun than real life, which is where Old World falls down in spite of a lot of cool other ideas. Check out my review for all the details.

russelltroxel.com/writing/20… This week I reviewed @EnderLiliesGame, a grim Metroidvania in which the hero doesn't do any fighting. Interested what it's like to command an army of lingering souls? Check out my review for all the details.

russelltroxel.com/writing/20… Overboard! by @inkleStudios is a tremendous reverse mystery that challenges players to use their wits to make sure the murder of Malcolm Villensey is never solved, at least not accurately. Check out my review to learn how fun it is to get away with crimes

Celebrate the end of my @UNLincoln career! When I reflected on all my campus experiences, I realized the most life-changing impact came from my French studies @UNLModLang @unlcas. On Tuesday 5/25 Give to Lincoln Day, consider helping me fund study abroad: bit.ly/3fLcGI3

russelltroxel.com/writing/20… A Token War is an interesting blend between deckbuilder and strategy campaign game. With easy to learn mechanics, an expansive roster of potential allies, and a vicious AI, there's a lot to say about it. Check out my review for the details.

russelltroxel.com/writing/20… Neurodeck is an interesting idea for a deckbuilder, but in spite of some interesting ideas and mechanics, it falls short. Check out my review for all the details.

russelltroxel.com/writing/20… This week I reviewed Bravely Default 2, a game unafraid to stick to every JRPG trope we all know. I like the Brave/Default system quite a bit. The rest of it...well, read my review and you'll know.
