I had a fun time creating & implementing an AI assignment through FSU's AI Sparks program! This assignment had students debate with a persona (a registered sports dietitian) on whether youth athletes should keep food logs. The infographic has students' key takeaways!

This happens in every field. I see it in academia ALL the time (especially the promote). Saw it just today actually. What does this look like on your field?
Fear makes you protect or promote yourself. Protect: play not to lose, avoid the moment, try not to fail. Promote: try to be seen, get credit, prove you belong. Both limit you. High performers know they have nothing to prove, nothing to lose, nothing to hide.

This! Saw this on the wall at USAFA. The thing is still the thing. How you adapt & what you learn about it or yourself is what changes. Think about that when you think something is too difficult or you “can’t” etc.

Stress, anxiety, bad days can lead to impulses. Before you make a decision or choice, slow yourself down. Are you making the situation bigger than what it is? Will you regret the decision later? It can help to have trusted others help you think through things too!

Seeing people finally catching up to psy. with the building confidence talk: "You don't need more *confidence; you need more evidence" talk. Not wrong. Evidence is big; there are other sources to consider too. Enter Bandura's self-efficacy theory: Credit simplypsychology.org/self-ef…

In the 34yrs I’ve been in sports, I can’t remember hearing about an injury like this. This affects every coach, athlete, & fan that witnessed this too. 🙏
Furman defender Luke Munson announces his retirement from soccer. Munson had to have his lower leg amputated after suffering a double fracture against Duke on August 27. Wishing him all the best instagram.com/p/Dd93ma_Ekm9/…

There’s nothing wrong with hard. What’s wrong is expecting to get better while avoiding everything that challenges you. You have to choose the work before you earn the result.

FACTS. Leaders don’t play petty games by expecting others to figure them out. Leaders set the tone. What tone do you set?
Culture isn’t built by what a leader says. It’s built by how consistently they are daily. Your players shouldn’t have to walk into the building wondering what version of you they’re getting today. If the room has to read you before they can be themselves, that’s not leadership.

What works for some doesn’t work for all! 😆 This goes for mental skills too! There are so many different strategies & approaches to performance. Find an adaptive strategy that you like. You don’t have to do something just because you teammate, coach, parent does it.

Every year on or right before 9/11, we show this video to our students. It’s not only powerful story-telling, it’s a reminder to a younger generation about how life altering 9/11 was for those of us who lived it. It’s only 10 min #themanintheredbandana

Why this works: Because your brain’s defense for you feeling uncomfortable is to have you think it’s “too much,” hence stacking thoughts to protect you from something it thinks you need protecting from. “This needs structure” focuses on taking action & shifts brain to solutions.
