"Precision Pathology was launched to provide a dedicated platform for the rapid, disruptive advances in digital and computational pathology, multiplex tissue-based biomarker, liquid biopsy, and single-cell spatial multi-omics. Pathologist at the frontlines of precision health"
Congratulations to professor Rajendra Singh @mydermpath
An insightful plenary session with Rajendra Singh MD, Professor of Pathology at the University of Pennsylvania, explored how artificial intelligence is transforming everyday pathology workflows.

ARTICLE SUMMARY The study investigates why automated and manual tumor-stroma ratio (TSR) scoring in colorectal cancer produces different results. TSR is a prognostic biomarker measuring stromal tissue proportion, but manual assessment suffers from variability KEY FINDINGS: *Tissue segmentation achieved strong performance (Dice scores: 0.896 for tumor, 0.837 for stroma) *Within fixed ROIs, automated quantification agreed better with reference standards than pathologists (κ = 0.84 vs 0.60) *Fully automated TSR scored 24.6 percentage points higher than manual consensus. *Discrepancy sources: ~10 percentage points from ROI selection, ~14 from quantification differences *Case ranking was preserved, but clinical classification at 50% cut-off was not CONCLUSION: Treat automated TSR as a distinct measurement that requires independent prognostic validation, not a direct substitute for manual scoring.

NEW EPISODE of PRECISION PATHOLOGY PODCAST
Can Spatial Immune Profiling Improve Oncotype Dx Guidance of Chemotherapy in Breast Cancer?
My guest, @zak_kinsella PhD, from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, with his team of co-authors, observed an association between higher stromal tumor-infiltrating CD8+ lymphocyte (sTIL CD8+) density and poor outcome.
The study suggests sTIL CD8+ density as a candidate biomarker for treatment decisions.

Great new paper by @DengYanxiang in @CellPressNews which highlights the first spatial technology that enables simultaneous profiling of 3D genome organization and gene expression within the same tissue section.
