NEW: Virginia man charged after allegedly tying wife to a chair in the basement so he could watch football upstairs
Terry Ward, 64, was arrested after officers responded to a domestic call last Sunday at a home in Richmond, Virginia.
According to the criminal complaint, his wife said he used tape to restrain her to a chair in the basement. Ward admitted he tied her up and left her there. She had marks and tape residue on both arms and told police she had been restrained for about 30 to 45 minutes.
Sources said Ward was upstairs watching football while she remained in the basement.
He faces felony abduction and misdemeanor assault on a family member.
His next court date is November 10.
He will get to watch a lot of football without her in the near future.

Elon Musk's companies built a sports car that does what science fiction promised for a century. The same man lands rockets on barges and builds the machines that carry our astronauts. That is what one free mind, and the thousands of minds he employs, can produce.
Bernie Sanders says billionaires should not exist. He looks at the man who makes cars fly and concludes the problem to solve is that such men keep too much of what they create. He has spent five decades in government producing nothing, yet he claims the moral authority to dispose of the men who produce everything. A man who seeks unearned control over the lives and property of others is corrupt in the fullest meaning of the word, and that corruption runs deeper than any bribe.
A flying car is what men do when they are free. A wealth tax is what politicians do to the men who built it. One of them needs the other to survive, and it isn't Musk.
