🇫🇷 Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD), the student group behind the 2024 Gaza encampment at Columbia, sent the French high school students leading the protests sweeping France a list of lessons from the U.S. campus movement, "including what we failed to do." The group urged them to follow the money and trace "the supply chains that connect a classroom in Saint-Denis to a mine in the Sahel," then "disrupt them." It admitted that "the Student Intifada's downfall was our failure to widen our terrain of struggle beyond the campus gates," and told the students to "link the lycées to the factories, the factories to the ports, the ports to the ships." It warned them against the "liberal trap," recalling that "by the second week of our encampments, liberals had shifted the conversation away from Gaza to what protest is allowed to look like." It also told them not to let "union executives, party spokespersons, or televised commentators translate your rage," and to protect those taking the greatest risks, because "a movement that abandons its front line to save its respectability will soon find itself with neither." Writing as "veterans of the Student Intifada," CUAD said it saw its own struggle in students "blocking school gates, wearing keffiyehs and hoisting Palestinian flags." The revolt began in the working-class, largely immigrant suburbs of Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne, where, the letter says, "the police who patrol your gates are the descendants of those who patrolled the Casbah," a reference to French colonial rule in Algeria. "Do not demand a better future from those who are actively burning the planet and plotting your demise," it said. "Do not negotiate the terms of your future. Liberate the present."

🚨BREAKING: President Trump says the U.S. is “not negotiating” with Iran and that “something one way or the other” will happen “fairly soon,” pointing to the upcoming U.S. midterm elections. “Most people seem to think it’s after the election, and we’re going to see what happens,” said Trump. Asked whether he was finished negotiating with Tehran, Trump replied: “No, I think we’re not negotiating.” “We are going to have something one way or the other. It’ll happen fairly soon,” he added. 🔗 Earlier Wednesday, Drop Site reported that the U.S. and Israel are preparing to resume attacks on Iran, potentially before Tuesday’s Israeli elections, citing senior Iranian officials and a U.S. official. The White House in its response to Drop Site denied plans for U.S. strikes before the midterms. Full report linked in reply.

⚡️ EXCLUSIVE: Iran could expand its targets to include data centers, AI facilities and communications cables if the U.S. resumes attacks, Gen. Mohsen Rezaei, Iran’s top security official, told Drop Site News. Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and personal representative of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, spoke to Drop Site in an exclusive written interview. “If the question is whether Iran still has the ability to continue missile and drone operations, the answer is yes,” Rezaei said. “The United States has valuable assets in the region. In the event of war, cables, data centers and artificial intelligence facilities could also come within range. If the conflict begins again, we will have a broader plan.” 🔗 A short summary of the report is linked below. Read the full report from Jeremy Scahill, Ryan Grim and Peiman Salehi linked in the replies.
🚨 NEW: The U.S. and Israel are preparing to resume attacks on Iran, possibly before Tuesday’s Israeli elections, according to senior Iranian officials and a U.S. official who spoke to Drop Site. The White House denies plans for U.S. strikes before the midterms. What each told Drop Site: 🔸 Gen. Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, in an exclusive written interview with Drop Site ➤ Iran retains the capacity to launch missiles and drones at U.S. assets and would expand its targets: “Cables, data centers and artificial intelligence facilities could also come within range. If the conflict begins again, we will have a broader plan.” ➤ On previously unused capabilities: “We did not deploy all our capabilities in the previous stages… and we are also prepared for the next stage.” ➤ On Gulf states whose energy infrastructure could help sustain the U.S. blockade: “Those governments should not assume they can participate in economic warfare against Iran without putting themselves at risk.” ➤ On diplomacy: Iran has presented seven new conditions through intermediaries. “Until those conditions are fulfilled, Iran will neither reopen the strait nor return to negotiations.” 🔸 A senior Iranian official ➤ Tehran’s intelligence assessment sees a high likelihood that large-scale bombing begins before the Israeli vote on October 27. “Trump has sat on Iran’s proposed package for ending the war, and negotiations have stalled.” ➤ Tehran believes Israel would strike first, “destroying Iran’s newly deployed air defense systems, in order to open the path for American bombers,” while the U.S. would target defenses along the Strait of Hormuz and potentially attempt to seize an Iranian island. ➤ Trump may launch a “token” attack on an underground nuclear site such as Pickaxe Mountain to claim victory. ➤ “Should another war against Iran begin… their casualty figures will be ten times higher.” 🔸 A U.S. official ➤ Military assets are moving rapidly into place ahead of an expected green light from Trump, with CENTCOM chief Gen. Bradley Cooper among those pushing for renewed attacks. ➤ “CENTCOM is putting all the pieces into place to renew major combat operations.” ➤ The official doubted strikes would come before the Israeli vote, but said: “We did start Epic Fury without all our assets in place.” ➤ “Trump has backed off major combat operations against Iran or the Houthis [Ansarallah] seven times since July… At the last minute, he calls it off.” 🔸 White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly ➤ “The United States will not be attacking Iran at any time prior to the midterm elections.” — The USS Theodore Roosevelt and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit are heading to the region, bringing approximately 10,000 additional sailors and Marines. Two other U.S. aircraft carriers are already in the Arabian Sea. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, trailing in the polls, claimed Wednesday without evidence that Iran is developing a nuclear weapon and said his directive to the Israeli military, Mossad and security agencies is “to topple the regime in Iran.” 🔗 Full details in the new report from Jeremy Scahill, Peiman Salehi and Ryan Grim, linked below.

🛑 “Not one of the 16 children who were killed on that day can be confidently called a deliberate killing by Hamas. The one case where someone knowingly fired on a child was done by Israel.“ Israeli researcher Shaiel Ben-Ephraim examines each of the 16 cases in the new short documentary below. ⬇️
Israel has long claimed that Hamas went around slaughtering children on October 7th. Yet even the Israeli records and the camera footage it released show this is not true. 16 children under 14 were killed on October 7. I went through every one of them, case by case. There is not a single case of a child targeted and executed intentionally by Hamas. But that false narrative has been used to justify the slaughter over 20,000 Palestinian children in Gaza. Watch the full analysis.

🇾🇪 BREAKING: Yemen's Saudi-backed government declared that tribal rallies and other civilian public gatherings in areas controlled by Ansarallah will be treated as "legitimate military targets." In a statement, its Defense Ministry warned civilians not to attend gatherings like tribal mobilizations, mass rallies or "cultural courses," which it said Ansarallah uses to recruit "children, young people" and send them "into the furnaces of death." It ordered families to stay away. Under international law, civilians at such gatherings cannot be targeted unless they are directly taking part in hostilities. The Saudi-led coalition has hit civilian gatherings before. In one incident, in an October 2016 strike on a funeral hall in Sanaa, the Saudi coalition killed more than 140 Yemenis.

💢 Iran’s top security official, Gen. Mohsen Rezaei, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and personal representative of Supreme Leader Khamenei, tells Drop Site that, in the event of an attack, Iran still has capacity to continue launching missiles and drones at various U.S. assets across the region in retaliation and that it would expand its range of targets. 🔸Rezaei did not rule out targeting energy infrastructure in Gulf states as a retaliatory measure. “If the U.S. strategy is to prolong the war while using neighboring countries’ energy infrastructure to offset the pressure arising from Hormuz and maintain the blockade of Iran, those governments should not assume they can participate in economic warfare against Iran without putting themselves at risk,” he said. 🔸“The message is not that Iran wants to destroy the Persian Gulf’s energy system. The message is that there can be no arrangement in which Iran’s economic lifelines come under attack while the economic architecture enabling those attacks is considered untouched and immune,” Rezaei added. 🔗 Read Drop Site’s full new report ⬇️

❗️A U.S. official tells Drop Site that while the likelihood of new U.S.-Israeli attacks was high, Trump has gone to the brink of military action and pulled back more times than is publicly known. “Trump has backed off major combat operations against Iran or the Houthis seven times since July,” the U.S. official said, referring to Ansarallah, who launched a major offensive against Saudi-backed groups in Yemen. “At the last minute, he calls it off.” 🔗 Full report from Jeremy Scahill, Peiman Salehi, and Ryan Grim below ⬇️

⭕️ Why would the U.S. and Israel restart the war on Iran now? Two leading Iran experts told Drop Site that Trump and Netanyahu's political interests are converging, as Netanyahu faces elections Tuesday and Trump's approval sinks ahead of the midterms. 🔸 Trita Parsi, executive vice president of the Quincy Institute
➤ "This is Netanyahu's last chance to do so... knowing that either his career is going to end or the United States is going to go in a direction in which this no longer will be an option."
➤ "Trump, I suspect, has already made a decision that he's going to go to war... But it is a massive miscalculation that will make the situation 100 times worse." 🔸 Robert Malley, former senior U.S. Iran negotiator who helped broker the 2015 nuclear deal
➤ "Netanyahu may want a longer campaign with broader objectives. Trump may want something shorter that he could quickly get out of. The overlap between the two might well be an intensive campaign that doesn't last too long."
➤ "President Trump may want a victory lap and an exit ramp. But as has been proven time and time again, the exit is not decided by him alone." 🔗 Full details below ⬇️
