My grandpa would crack open the walnut shells. He and I would pick out the tasty nut pieces. The hardest part was having to wait the 24-48 hours until she would bake them. Chocolate was so rich. Walnuts tasty. Dough tasted like caramel. Great one if a kind recipe

Here’s the dough with chopped black walnut and chocolate chips included. My grandma got her chips from the local candy store. Said nestle was mostly fat and not cocoa. I use Guittard chips. She got her walnuts from under her walnut tree
Here’s the dough after cooking the butter and making a tangzhong to add. Doesn’t look like typical nestle toll house dough does it? The cookies will have a toffee flavor.
Starting a batch of chocolate chip cookies. I don’t use the re pie on the package. I use grandma’s which involves melting the butter over high heat until it creates dark golden bits. Then I make thetangzhong. It gives the cookies a toffee flavor.
