BREAKING: Alberta separatist organizers say they submitted more than 300,000 signatures to Elections Alberta in a push to trigger a referendum on whether the province should leave Canada.
Stay Free Alberta delivered dozens of boxes of petition sheets to Elections Alberta’s Edmonton office Monday. The campaign says it collected well above the roughly 178,000 signatures required, though the total still needs to be verified by officials.
If enough valid signatures are confirmed, Albertans could see a separation question on the ballot as early as October.
