I have always loved the idea of #community driven #skins. Are you an #artist who likes to create unique #characters or #clothing items? Want your creation used as a #skin in the #Metaverse + $1,000? Just comment an image of your entry below, the top 3 highest liked + 1 of my choice will then be listed in a poll for everyone to vote on. If the process works well we will keep repeating it, so if you miss out, just try again on the next one! The winning entrant will receive a $1,000 prize and have their creation enter the meticulous process of being made into an official wearable #skin by our talented #3dmodeling team & then listed as a drop in #Earth2 to be used in the #Metaverse. Why am I doing this? 1⃣ I like to support creative & talented people when and where I can 2⃣ I love the idea of #community driven #skins allowing people the chance to vote in #skins they want to wear 3⃣ Long term I plan to implement an internal feature which automates this whole process but due to time restraints caused by other developments in progress I thought introducing the concept here on X might be a way of gauging interest and working out the whole process I cannot list ALL of the rules, but there are quite a few things entrants need to consider: 🔷winners will be expected to provide detailed artwork from multiple angles so our #3D team can successfully model the design. This is critical. If you're unsure how to provide this level of detail or you lack the ability, please re-consider submitting. 🔷winners will need to avoid any IP infringements and guarantee their work is their own. All #skins released by #Earth2 to date have been fully developed by our team from scratch following a very strict process from concept art to creation and we plan to maintain that approach. 🔷all successful entrants to the poll will be reviewed by our art team, 3D team and one senior dev to ensure the design is acceptable. We will try to provide feedback where possible, but there are a number of things that need to be checked 🔷which leads to - designs should be general proportion for female / male body types for now. Designs should also avoid situations that may cause excessive clipping in an animated / in motion 3D character (i.e no super puffy jackets, pants, other things that would cause excessive internal clipping) 🔷we are developing a modular clothing system, so the designs do not have to be full suits or characters, individual clothing items are also welcome (i.e shirt, jacket, gloves, pants, boots etc). This means there will be certain technical limitations on #skins and #clothing items. Above all, this is a trial, so we'll see how it all plays out. I just want to provide some opportunities for #artists & our #community to submit #skins they might like to see. We may do 1, we may do 10 or 100 or more. Just remember, it is a trial. We already have a few more #skins lined up for release over the next few weeks, so this is also not something where a #skin is voted tomorrow and appears a few days later. Just the #3Dmodelling part for each skin takes around 2 weeks for 1 modeller - I want to make sure people are aware of these details. Anyway, let's see how it goes and where it leads to. If it does not work out well we may just continue with our own internal process, or wait to pursue #Community #skins at a later date. Or we may just release an automated voting system for #skins on our website some time in the future which will have more specific details and guidelines.
