MUSASIZI URGES EPRC TO PRODUCE EVIDENCE BASED RESEARCH TO SPUR UGANDA’S TENFOLD GROWTH AGENDA
Finance Minister @henrymusasizi1 has tasked Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC) to focus on generating evidence-based economic policy research and analysis that will support Uganda to achieve a 500-billion-dollar economy by 2040.
The Minister made the remarks today while meeting the Board and Management of Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC) at @mofpedU
@EPRC_official was established in 1993 by @mofpedU and @Makerere to build in-country policy research capacity and has since become Uganda’s leading economic policy think tank.
Musasizi said evidence-based research is critical for policy makers to make informed decisions on the socio-economic transformation of the country, adding that there is need for more evidence-based research to ensure the anchor sectors (ATMS) deliver Uganda’s tenfold growth.
The Executive Director EPRC Dr. Sarah Ssewanyana said EPRC is committed to continue playing a central role in supporting evidence-informed policy making and contributing to national development strategies, adding that their work is fully aligned with NDP IV and the Tenfold growth strategy.
She said EPRC is also focusing on stakeholder engagement and policy uptake as well as digitization of research dissemination and knowledge management.

Finance Minister @henrymusasizi1 has asked Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority (URBRA) to ensure that the new Public Service Pension Scheme is successfully implemented and properly regulated to contribute sustainably to the retirement benefits sector.
He said the sector whose assets have grown to about UGX 36 trillion should focus on partnering with government to use this patient capital to deliver the Tenfold Growth Strategy, adding that the savings should be well managed and deployed in the productive sectors of the economy.
Musasizi said @urbraUg should also keep engaging with all stakeholders to promote voluntary savings.
The Minister made the remarks while meeting the Board and Management of URBRA at the Finance Ministry. The URBRA team was led by the Chairman of the Board Henry Balwanyi Magino and the Chief Executive Officer Martin Anthony Nsubuga.
The Board Chairman said the Authority’s new Strategic Plan (2025/26-2029/30) is anchored on the theme: Harnessing Retirement Savings for Sustainable Socio-economic Transformation.
He said achieving the Tenfold Growth Strategy requires increasing domestic substantially, adding that retirement savings will remain central to that ambition.
“Every shilling saved for retirement is not only securing the future of a Ugandan worker-it is also building the capital that finances Uganda’s future,” said Balwanyi.
He said a stronger pensions sector means stronger domestic savings, stronger capital markets, greater investment, more jobs and ultimately faster progress towards the Tenfold Growth Strategy.
