I’m an $SOXL long term bull. I’m pretty open about that. However, it’s my job to make money. I opened a small $SOXS position yesterday and closed it today. Yeah, $SOXL was likely to go down, so I bought $SOXS and made a little money. Seemed like a good risk to reward ratio at the time.

I closed every position I have to raise more cash for more $SOXL. You can bet your ass I bought more today! Here’s my realized gain/loss. I took many losses and destroyed my beautiful record because as I’ve said many times, $SOXL below $120 is a gift. I don’t know how low it will go, or how long it will take to recover. I just know that at these levels, I’m an aggressive buyer and it was worth taking the losses for me to raise more cash to buy aggressively.

Yesterday was the first time I have ever taken a short position. I bought $SOXS. I’m still holding my $SOXL and closed all of my other positions to aggressively buy more, at my price targets. I bought a little more $SOXS this afternoon at the bell.

It’s done, and I feel sick. I’ve never done anything like this. I closed every position I have except $SOXL. Today I closed $GDXU, $MUU, $MSTU, $NEBX, $OKLL, $RKLX, $SPCH, $TEUP, $ASTX, $IONX, $MVLL. Over the course of these past couple of weeks I’ve also closed $TSLL, $NAIL, $LABU, $NRGU, $DFEN and probably missing one or two others that I closed as well. To reiterate, I’m not calling this the bottom. I have no idea where that will be or when. I just know that sub $120 on $SOXL, for me, is time to be aggressive. This is me taking the short term loss for the long term gain. My stomach is turning. But for me, this is the right call, as uncomfortable as it is.

I am now actively closing every position except for $SOXL. This is an opportunity I did not think would come. I’ve never done this before and I’m going to take some very big losses in the process. I’ve been trading $SOXL for many years and believe that this much below $120 is an opportunity of a lifetime for me. I’m not saying it doesn’t go lower, it could go to $30 for all I know. What I do know, is that statistically, this is a period of time to enter aggressively and I’m taking the losses on other positions to do so. My record that I am very proud of will be blown up. That’s ok though. This is worth the risk to me.

$SOXL buy hit. I’ve never done this before, but I’m going to continue closing positions, even at a loss, some a big losses, to free up more capital for $SOXL buys. I have no idea how low it will go and when it will recover. $SOXL is under $120 and I’m aggressive. I’m going to close all my satellites next. I don’t love it because I’d prefer to wait until end of year for hopefully a rebound and not close at a loss, but, I’m unwilling to miss this opportunity.

I just closed a large part of my $NRGU position.

I’ll be closing some more positions. I understand this will cost me in consistency. All the capital I’m freeing up is going into $SOXL at my buy targets. I don’t know if $SOXL is going up or down over the short term. I just recognize this as an opportunity over the long term and I’m taking it. I’m debating closing $NRGU next because it’s been such an incredible hedge recently for several months. But I also feel that it’s done its job, not that it’s done going up, just done its job.

I had 2 $SPCH sells and 2 $TSLL sells hit. I also just closed my $TSLL position. I still think it’s an excellent ticker and it is an excellent core position. $SOXL just keeps calling me. I’m raising more cash to increase my buys as they are triggered. I’ll post my updated realized gain/loss report later.

I closed a portion of my $LABU position to free up some capital. I like $LABU and it has performed very well for me. I’m using the proceeds to double up on my $SOXL buys when they hit. This will cost me consistency in sells, but I believe it will be worth it.

If you’re afraid to tell people that you trade for a living, it’s more likely that you are not a good trader but a bad gambler. People who are afraid of telling others they trade for a living are so because they are afraid of facing the reality that they are not good at it. Telling people would require the capacity to both articulate the strategy as well as being able to back up its consistency.
Rule #1 in trading Never tell anyone you trade

My posts were a bit confusing today, so for clarity, in addition to my preset buy limit orders hitting, I manually added and grew my positions in $SOXL, $MUU and $GDXU.

I had grok clean up my ramble: A buddy who’s new to this and trades my strategy texted me today and asked if days like this scare me. Scare isn’t the right word. It implies helplessness, and I’m not helpless. I have a buy and a sell order sitting for every position, every day. Big drops are uncomfortable, but they’re not a surprise. They’re a necessary part of buying low and selling high. Being prepared for them is what keeps the emotions in check. So while days like this are uncomfortable, watching tickers like $SOXL grow is exciting. It’s a strange combination—excited and uncomfortable at the same time—but that’s exactly how it feels. Most people understand “buy low, sell high” in theory. Very few can actually execute it consistently, especially the buying-low part. That’s why I built a mechanical version of it. Buying low is deeply uncomfortable for most people. Sometimes it’s uncomfortable for me too. $GDXU is another one I enjoy working. A buy filled this morning. I was fairly confident it would go lower, but I left the order alone instead of canceling it and trying to pick a better price. Why? Because I’ve never been consistently profitable trading my emotions. I’ve only been consistently profitable trading the strategy. I’ve never seen another approach that’s as repeatable as this one, so I stick with it, even on the days when it’s not comfortable.
