I got the question below from a father about endurance training in adolescent female athletes and peripubertal weight gain. I could have answered, but I thought it was better for my dancer/runner daughter to answer this one:

Excellent paper by @RituTM @jokasten @AC_Hackney et al with an great comment by @runwidkeel IMO we will never have a universal blueprint for the effects of the menstrual cycle on performance, but we can learn how individual women react to it & how practitioners can respond to it
Interesting. That variability really highlights how individualized this approach needs to be if we are to tailor to the cycle. I’m not sure we will ever be able to generalize findings or recommendations based off of a groups “phase”

What age do top athletes reach their peak performance? It varies greatly across different sports, by event length. As event length goes up, peak age: ⬇️ for explosive/sprint events ⬆️ for endurance events Events lasting ~4 mins are where these linear trends seem to intersect.

Happy head, fast legs. Was so pleased to just pin the numbers on again this week at the @LTour_Of_Norway. To finish today with a win is surreal. Thank you to my teammates and my team. Not just for today but for the support and encouragement the last four and half months.
