Sometimes it's worth getting soaked for a shot.. D8069, 20069, was being taken off the stock in a wet Bury Bolton Street station yesterday, a dash down the platform in the rain for a shot resulted in some well timed clag & tones from the driver 😃👍 top loco @ChopperD8069 18/9/26

This is my last #FortiesOnFriday this week - York on 22nd August 1981 again, with 40 020 arriving on the 0835 Newcastle - Great Yarmouth. I'd forgotten a direct train ran between the two on summer Saturdays. And loco-hauled to boot!

Once upon a time Class 40 haulage was the norm on summer Saturday holiday trains heading for any resort in the north of England. This is 40073 standing on the up centre road at York on 22nd August 1981, having brought in the 0810 Glasgow QS - Scarborough. #FortiesOnFriday
