🌬️ Did you know several HVAC systems across Socorro ISD are nearing or have reached the end of their useful life? Proposition A includes funding for HVAC system and controls upgrades at campuses throughout the district. Early voting continues through October 30, and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. The state funds just 39.6% of Socorro ISD’s safety and security costs. The state provides $57 per student for safety and security, while the district’s actual costs total $144 per student. That leaves 60.4% of safety and security costs unfunded by the state, creating an annual funding gap of approximately $4 million. Despite this funding gap, Socorro ISD is still required to provide armed security at every campus. 🎶 From fine arts and athletics to Career and Technical Education, Socorro ISD students participate in a variety of programs across the district. More than 22,800 students participate in fine arts programs such as band and choir, approximately 9,000 participate in athletics, and more than 90% of high school students participate in CTE programs that provide hands-on learning to prepare students for jobs upon graduation. 💻 Socorro ISD maintains 41,500 student devices that require regular updates and replacement. Older devices become harder to update, and keeping them in circulation longer can lead to increased downtime, maintenance costs and reduced instructional efficiency.
