Today, I am thrilled to announce that the first 26 city buses have been converted from fuel to natural gas and are now in service. Over the past few months, we have successfully managed the logistics of transporting local natural gas to Addis Ababa, establishing fueling stations, and retrofitting buses. This historic milestone slashes foreign currency spending on fuel, cuts public transit operational costs, and reduces passenger fares by half. Performing these conversions locally also proves our growing domestic capacity and technology transfer. To completely eliminate fuel dependency, 400 new natural gas buses will arrive soon. We will continue our momentum to bring tangible, lasting improvements to our citizens' lives across the food, housing, and transport sectors.

The Ethiopia–Russia Bilateral Meeting; Elevating Longstanding Relations!

Today, the Medemer Book was launched in its Russian translation. I am immensely proud to have attended this historic event, which proves that the Medemer philosophy, born from Ethiopian indigenous knowledge, has crossed borders to achieve global impact. Having already been translated into English, Chinese, and Arabic, its expansion into the Russian-speaking world strengthens its international reach and diplomatic value. This milestone demonstrates that Ethiopia contributes mature, sophisticated ideas to the global community. Just as Russia has long inspired Ethiopian scholars, this marks a complete, mutual exchange of knowledge. I deeply appreciate the media professionals and leadership at Russia Today (RT) for their dedication to this project. This new chapter will build a powerful cultural and intellectual bridge between our peoples.

Our comprehensive efforts to sustainably ensure our country's peace and security have reached a new milestone today. The state of readiness being built within Ethiopia's defense forces is endowing the nation with the capability to preemptively deter aggression. In accordance with our prior agreement with the Russian government, we have today taken delivery of the first twelve Su-35 4++ Generation fighter jets. Additionally, Ethiopia will receive four S-400 air defense system batteries. I would like to express my gratitude to my friend, Russian President Vladimir Putin, for his dedication in ensuring we received these warplanes a year ahead of our agreed schedule. By equipping itself with these fighter jets, Ethiopia has taken the lead among Sub-Saharan African nations. This historic achievement further strengthens our nation's sovereignty, and it will serve as a massive capability boost that allows us to confidently continue our journey toward ensuring our collective security and regional stability in the future.
