We do not have to accept childhoods shaped by algorithms. We do not have to accept a system that fails our children. Europe has the power to act. To give children the time they need in the real world. I will detail our proposal in my upcoming State of the Union address.

Signed! Our 🇪🇺🇬🇱🇩🇰 Joint Declaration. It reflects a clear choice by Greenland to strengthen ties with the EU. In order to protect its values, freedom and interests. Europe is making a choice too. To be more present and more engaged in Greenland and in the Arctic.

Russia bombed civilians at record levels this summer. Yet Russians continued to enter and enjoy the hospitality of European countries. It should not work this way. There was broad support today among Foreign Ministers to move with an EU visa entry ban for Russian ex-combatants and tougher visa restrictions on Russian tourists. My press conference with @HMcEntee following today’s meeting of Foreign Ministers ↓

We condemn in the strongest possible terms Russia’s attempted drone attack at Leipzig Airport. Russia must stop its war of aggression against Ukraine, instead of escalating. The EU stands in full solidarity with Germany. The EU remains strong and united and Russia will not prevail. Our support to Ukraine is unwavering. We will work with Germany and other Member States to ramp up the pressure on Russia until it shows a willingness to change course.

This morning I spoke with Chancellor Merz to discuss the hybrid attack at Leipzig airport. I assured him that the EU stands in full solidarity with Germany in the face of this attack by Russia. We will keep the EU united despite these escalating and serious acts. The German government has taken strong measures. And the message is clear: hybrid attacks will not go without a clear response. We are united in our resolve to stand against Russian aggression. We will deter anyone who seeks to undermine our freedom and security. Russia is seeking to sow distrust and fear among our societies. But it will fail. And we will stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes. I will discuss this topic tomorrow with NATO Secretary General Rutte. And the matter, including additional sanctions, will be prepared by Foreign Ministers at their upcoming meeting under the Irish Presidency.

Another year, another chapter in Europe’s history. Save the date for the State of the European Union on 16 September 2026. President @vonderleyen will deliver her annual address to Europe, setting out priorities for the year ahead. Let’s shape a stronger Europe together. 🇪🇺 More → link.europa.eu/xRM4FD

Devastating floods have struck communities in Nepal and China. My thoughts are with all those affected, especially the families who have lost loved ones or are still waiting for news. We also share a thought for the brave first responders. Copernicus has been activated to help map the affected areas in Nepal and support the response on the ground. We stand ready to mobilise further European assistance.
