🇪🇺 What does our #ECBToneMeter say about the chances of a June hike? 🦅 The index has stayed in roughly the same range since the aftermath of the April 30 Governing Council meeting, and remains in what we call “slightly hawkish" territory: between +0.5 and +2.5. Because the index measures tone, hawkishness rises as near-term hike signals get stronger. 📈 So the #ECBToneMeter suggests June is live and policymakers are steadily keeping a hike on the table. But no one has made it the baseline or default option. The bias is clearly toward a hike, but the #ECBToneMeter suggests a hold still cannot be ruled out.

The ECB is in a good place as medium-term inflation is projected to be at target and risks to the growth outlook are more balanced, Executive Board member @Isabel_Schnabel tells @EconoStream. Therefore, the bar for another rate cut is very high.

Great ITV of the head of the German DFA on its issuance strategy : futures/benchmarks driven, green bonds and persisting greenium, ILB market withdrawal, retail, swapspreads, slope of the curve, etc. 🇩🇪

Thank you Econostream for the opportunity to discuss the eurozone’s economy and ECB’s monetary policy. Inflation is on the right decelerating path but more data is needed to assess and conclude that this path is firm and sustainable enough to bring inflation back to its 2% target

Great interview, as always. Thank you, David! I still see that the risks of doing too little are higher than the risks of doing too much. Therefore, rates still need to go up to deal with inflation in one go, so that we don’t see inflation coming back.
ECB Governing Council member Mārtiņš Kazāks tells Econostream that he is in no hurry to start active ECB asset sales and that "there’s no need for any changes to the PEPP reinvestment at the moment", as this is "also important for flexibility reasons". econostream-media.com/news/2…

Had a fascinating interview with ECB Governing Council member Pierre Wunsch, who says 2023 HICP could easily hit 2% and called for monetary policy patience while insisting that the strength of inflationary forces could require a reaction at some point. econostream-media.com/news/2…
