That's a wrap on #FosterYouthVoiceMonth! 🩵🧡✨ Throughout October, we celebrated the power of lived experience and how youth are using their voices to help shape the child welfare system. This year's theme, "Driven by Experience," reminded us that youth impacted by foster care are more than advocates — they are experts whose perspectives, experiences and leadership are essential to creating meaningful, lasting change. 👏💙 A heartfelt thank you to the youth advocates, agency partners, and law makers across the country who joined us in amplifying youth voices and youth-led advocacy. Now, it's your turn to put awareness into action! Make a difference, start conversations in your community and reach out to your legislators. Together, we can build a child welfare system shaped by experience. 🫶

💖Our Independent Living and Advocacy teams recently attended the Daniel Memorial Conference in Virginia. By connecting with youth with lived experience in foster care and child welfare professionals from across the country, they gained practical, innovative strategies to better support young people as they navigate life’s challenges and build the skills they need to thrive in adulthood.🚀

🤩Meet Rashauni, SLA Scholar #2!  💡Her vision is clear: expand access to real-world life skills training for young adults who have experienced foster care. Over the past year, Rashauni embarked on a year-long intensive life and leadership training to not only refine her dream, but also how she will bring it to life! 💼This is what fostering futures and building leaders looks like, and we are honored to support youth just like Rashauni! 🚀

🤩Meet Knowledge, Selfless Love Academy Scholar #1!  🚀 She is on a mission to make mental health support more accessible to low-income families. 🛠️To prepare to graduate from Selfless Love Academy, Knowledge and her fellow scholars completed 150 hours of leadership training, sharpening their goals to share how they plan to make a difference! 🥳We are extremely proud of all of our graduates and excited to see them take the stage!👏 @citrusfcn

It looks like safe housing.🏠 Skilled trades.🛠️ Purposeful work.🌱 Community.🫂  Selfless Love Foundation is proud to partner with The Burke Center for Youth in Driftwood, TX🤠 to create supportive housing for young men ages 18–21 as they transition into adulthood. 🏠The home, located on a 50+ acre ranch, will offer more than a stable place to live — youth also receive job placement support, skilled trade training in carpentry⚒️, 🚙 auto body work, harvesting fresh fruit and vegetables🌽 from the state-of-the-art greenhouse and about 💡sustainability. The Burke Center shares our mission to help youth build successful futures beyond foster care.
