I'm overjoyed to share that - thanks to a huge amount of help, support, and encouragement from friends, family, students, and colleagues, #FirstStepsInSpaceTime has just been published! It's been such a joy working with @CRCPress on this book, and I'm so excited to share it!

Excellent and thought-provoking talk at #PresenterNet2024 by
Dr Claire Malone @GeeknProud42 on the use of generative #AI such as #ChatGPT and the benefits of the human touch in #ScienceCommunication to inspire the next generation of scientists

Superb talk by @tolu_ea on the sense of belonging in #STEM undergraduates - so important for students to make friends on their course and feel that they belong - and some great recommendations for departments #ViCEPHEC24
Excellent seminar today by Yun Sheng on experiential learning. Wonderful to see the coding projects that Yun's students had developed - I thought they were a great example of how this approach to learning can align very naturally with the activities that students are working on.
Back home after such a great time at #ViCEPHEC26. Wonderful to see such depth and breadth of education research. Thank you so much to the LOC and everyone at the @UniofNottingham for such an excellent meeting - already looking forward to visiting @QUBelfast for #ViCEPHEC27!
Had a great time on Day Two of #ViCEPHEC26. I thought the talks in the Equity, Inclusion and Student Experience parallel session were especially important and insightful.
Oto-obong Inyang ended the session with a superb talk on work with Abigail Peel (both from @durham_uni) on the hidden curriculum in physics. So much that students learn isn’t directly assessed, so it was great to see practical recommendations to help all students benefit.
Fascinating talk at #ViCEPHEC26 by @RossKGalloway on performance of #ChatGPT on the FCI test. Amazing results on the standard test, but much lower on 'isomorphic' questions. I think it's so important that students still learn to apply physics in new situations when using LLMs.
Excited to be at @UniofNottingham for #ViCEPHEC26 and the @PhysicsNews satellite meeting! Looking forward to the excellent programme and learning about the latest developments in Physics Education Research. Let me know if you'll be here too!
Back home after a wonderful time as an enrichment lecturer observing the #SolarEclipse aboard @regentcruises #SevenSeasNavigator. Sharing the event with the brilliant crew and wonderful passengers was an extraordinary experience - I'm so grateful for the opportunity.
I had an extraordinary time watching the #SolarEclipse from the deck of the @regentcruises Navigator! We had an incredible view of the event, and there were some brilliant questions from the passengers. The eclipse cakes were a lovely touch, too!
Thrilled to have boarded the @regentcruises Navigator as an Enrichment Lecturer on a voyage to view the #SolarEclipse. I'll be presenting talks on astronomy and space exploration, and providing commentary during the eclipse. So excited to be onboard to witness the event!
I had an amazing time running an activity at the #ReachForTheCosmos event at @Ri_Science. We had brilliant discussions about black holes, spaghettification, and the physics behind Interstellar. Thank you so much to everyone involved, and everyone who tried a #BiteOfSpaceTime!
Excellent education seminar by my colleague Richard Gunton on objectivity and subjectification as pedagogical devices. I co-teach a module on AI and Statistical Data Analysis with Richard, so it was especially interesting to learn more about his approach to these concepts!
I had a great time at the @SEPhysics @WRIPAinfo workshop on #STEM employability. Excellent to hear from academia and industry on the challenges and prospects for recruitment. Do let me know if you have any experience with STEM recruitment - I'd be keen to hear your perspective
Had a great time at the #DERI Research Day - so impressed to see the range of #AI research at @QMUL and involvement from @Dell and @nvidia. I’m always keen to explore opportunities across academia and industry on our new #AppliedAI degree - let me know if you’d like to know more!

ALT A panel discussion at the Digital Environment Research Institute (DERI) research day at Queen Mary University of London. The subject of the panel is 'From Al Research to Real-World Impact: Deploying Al at Scale'. The panel consists of Evangelia (Lina) Kyrimi and Natalia Efremova (both from Queen Mary), Mozhgan Kabiri Chimeh (from NVIDIA), Arshad Farhad (from Dell Technologies) and is chaired by Greg Slabaugh (from Queen Mary).
