64.3 million (51.79%) for Lula versus 59.8 million (48.21%) for Flávio Bolsonaro,
Flávio is refusing to concede and said he will seek to have the election annulled. A last-minute Supreme Court decision (by Justice Cristiano Zanin) extended voting by two hours nationwide because of reported “problems with voter transportation to polling stations.”. As soon the election was extended, Lula’s votes skyrocketed..

Israel’s mainstream media, particularly Channels 11, 12 and 13, is facing a serious crisis of public trust.
For years, influential commentators appeared convinced they could shape public opinion rather than understand it.
From the judicial reform controversy to the war in Gaza, critics argue that too many journalists confused their own political views with the mood of the Israeli public.
And just days ago, another extraordinary example emerged: a prediction that Likud would win only nineteen seats, compared with a reported result of 27 seats.
If those figures are accurate, such an enormous discrepancy demands an explanation. Was it poor polling, political bias or a failure to understand the electorate?
Deliberately misleading the public is the kind of behaviour associated with state-controlled media in authoritarian countries such as Russia and North Korea, not the independent journalism expected in a democracy like Israel.
Now, as some commentators acknowledge mistakes, the real question is whether Israel’s media is prepared to listen rather than lecture.
Journalism should hold power accountable, not assume it has the power to dictate what the public should think.
