The Hwy 100 lane closures are for replacing overhead signs that have reached the end of their lifecycle. Work is staged (barrier removal, curing, paving), so it may look quiet at times. All lanes are expected to reopen by Sept. 3, weather permitting.

The Edina Police Department invites the public to a retirement celebration for K-9 Gryf 4:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, July 1, at Hughes Pavilion in Centennial Lakes Park, 7499 France Ave. S. After serving the City of Edina for six years, K-9 Gryf will retire at the end of June. Gryf and his handler, Mike Bengtson, have responded to 538 total calls for service over the years, including calls for tracking, building searches, article searches, narcotic searches and high-risk stops. There will be a meet and greet with Gryf to send him into retirement. If attendees are inclined to bring a gift, donations for Secondhand Hounds will be collected. Secondhand Hounds is in need of canned dog and kitten food, dog waste bags and any other dog supplies. Edina’s K-9 program is funded almost entirely by the Edina Crime Prevention Fund. Aside from training, the Crime Fund supplies all K-9 equipment, food and veterinarian bills. The department plans to get another K-9 in 2025 to fill Gryf’s spot. This event will take place rain or shine. If the weather allows, it will take place on Hughes Pavilion patio. If it is raining, the event will be inside Hughes Pavilion.

The Edina Police Department is investigating a forced entry burglary at an apartment complex in the southeast part of Edina where a large amount of tools were stolen. The suspects are two white males, both approximately 25-35 years old. Suspect #1 is wearing a blue sweatshirt, white sneakers, baseball cap and mask. He appears to have a linear tattoo on his inner left lower leg. Suspect #2 is wearing dark-rimmed glasses, baseball cap, gray Nike jacket, jeans and white sneakers. He possibly has a beard and/or mustache. Although this suspect was careful to conceal his face with a mask, he forgot to cover his numerous visible tattoos. This suspect has a tattoo on his lower left part of his neck, possibly extending down into his chest or shoulder, a tattoo behind his right area that appears to be a name or word starting with the letter “P” or “R”, a tattoo on the right side of his neck that appears to be a name, and tattoos on the backs of both hands. This suspect used a red children’s wagon to carry away the stolen loot. If you have any information that could lead to the identification of these suspects, contact Detective Joel Moore at 952-826-0485. Any information provided can remain anonymous. Please share this post to see how quickly these suspects can get identified!
