I'm angry + sad for the students + faculty dealing with the sudden closure of @UArts ! This is a 💩 show! I can confirm that faculty was FIRED EN MASSE VIA A ZOOM!!! They don't know when they'll get paid or if they'll get severance. But I bet the president's severance was hefty.
The University of the Arts laid off more than 600 staff members over Zoom today. The 150-year-old school's last day has been chaotic.

I'm all here for a fully decorated outdoor display for Xmas. However, the endless loop of jingles that I can hear from my bedroom that is more than 50 feet away at 1 am has me turning into the Grinch. Like at the very least shut it off at midnight. That's a reasonable time! – at South Carolina, USA
Having grown up in Socal just south of the San Joaquin valley, social studies in elementary school always made us acutely aware of where most of the growing happened. And since childhood, I knew who the farmworkers were and where they came from.
