The housing market is a whole, if you attack landlords by imposing an additional 4% tax in just one year you impact the entire market, mortgages. developer share values AND the value of people’s homes.

agreed. But you don't have to go back that far to see truly astonishing numbers. This is the 1989 RAF orbat - just a few decades ago when I was a young (slim!) chap. Look at some of the numbers: 435 Tornados 100+ Jags 170+ Harrier FORTY Canberra! 32 Tankers 160+ Hawks!!

Just a reminder that according to @ONS average UK monthly private rents rose by 3.8% in the 12 months to September 2026 and by roughly 29% overall across the decade to 2025.

BREAKING The OBR says the tax raid on landlords - increasing property income tax rates by another 2% - will: 1) Make it less likely that people become landlords, ‘reducing long term rental supply’ and leading to a ‘steady long-term rise in rents’ 2) See landlords simply pass on costs to tenants, increasing rents

Looks like savers & landlords are big losers in this Budget. Property income tax to rise to 24pc for basic rate taxpayers, 44pc for higher rate and 49pc for additional rate. Further punishment on those who work hard and do the right thing….

🇬🇧 50th Infantry Division, No. 47 Royal Marine Commando 🎯 Capture Port-En-Bessin 📅 06-Jun-44 -> 09-Jun-44 Imagine setting off an explosive charge to blow through enemy barbed wire, only for the blast to throw you ninety feet backward down a sheer cliff. That is exactly what happened to Lieutenant Isaac Goldstein outside Port-en-Bessin on June 7, 1944. Tasked with cracking open strongpoint Wn 57, the British Royal Marine Commando officer sent his men to cover and detonated the Bangalore torpedoes himself. The massive explosion cleared the wire, but the shockwave launched Goldstein airborne, tumbling thirty meters down the steep bluff. Battered and dazed, Goldstein refused to stay down. He scrambled straight back up the slope into the breach, leading Troop A into a vicious maze of trenches. German gunboats in the harbor suddenly opened up with automatic flak cannons, pinning down the assault while German stick grenades exploded across the works, leaving Goldstein heavily concussed. Ordered to break contact and withdraw toward the village, Goldstein crawled through the dirt until he realized one of his men was stranded and immobilized under fire. He quickly rounded up five commandos, fought his way back into the crossfire, and pulled his wounded comrade to safety. Goldstein passed out from exhaustion and multiple injuries soon after, but his tenacity opened the path to capturing the harbor and earned him the Military Cross.

What kind of person speeds past cars that have slowed down due to a dog on the road (A70 between Coylton and Ayr just after 7am) smashes into the poor dog so hard part of their blue BMW bumper falls off, and doesn't stop? Someone knows who they are.🤬

Very well said. Have no idea what the government hope to achieve here apart from destabilising the armed forces, destroying moral and undermining some of the finest soldiers in the world
Today MPs will vote on Labour's Northern Ireland Troubles Bill. It tears up the 2023 Legacy Act and opens the door to fresh investigations and civil claims against our brave veterans, decades after they served Queen and Country, fighting against IRA terrorists. How can this country ever ask people to serve their country if the government refuses to protect them? I voted against this proposal in November and will do so again. We have a duty to stand by our veterans! 🇬🇧

It’s immoral to pardon the IRA, a terrorist organisation that deliberately targeted innocent people, then pursue our soldiers who were acting on orders, on the say so of Dublin or Sinn Fein

Read this powerful article by @thetimes , and reflect on what has been shared.. This is not just “persecution by (extremely clumsy) process” imposed upon active-duty SAS operators fighting to detain vicious ISIS thugs in an active war zone, but also an example of performative self-immolation initiated by the most senior UK Special Forces officer at the time (G Jenkins) as self-serving exercise in what HE calls ‘transparency’…… So, if someone, anyone (quite possibly an enemy) within an active war zone says the SAS killed an unarmed man, then the so-called ‘senior leaders’ (some, as in this case, with near-zero combat experience) within the Whitehall-based ‘UK system’ desperate to demonstrate something that they call ‘transparency’ (or whatever else floats the MOD’s boat), will automatically launch an aggressive RMP operation to detain the SAS men involved…. Not on the basis of any hard evidence (there is no crime scene, no bodies, no bullets etc), but purely on distant, uncorroborated hearsay and remote, delayed analysis of operational reports; all supported by desk-bound, chinless leaders that seemingly care more about how they will (personally) look in an MOD promotion board than trying to properly understand the circumstances faced by the SAS men and defend them accordingly. What a gift this utterly pathetic weakness, low threshold investigative process and twisted self-defeating system gives to our many enemies….and what an awful message it sends to those that still volunteer to fight on our all of our behalves….

Powerful, damning words from former Commander of the SAS 👇 Is this really a good time to undermine our bravest, most brilliant fighting unit? The SAS are viewed with awe by our friends and our enemies. Allies cannot believe they are being treated in this appalling manner.

As part of Exercise Strike Warrior 2026, Army commandos from 148 (Meiktila) Commando Forward Observation Battery operated with 🇩🇪German submarine U36. Several attempts were made to drive the RIB onto the casing, but the swell was too strong and a ladder with the RIB alongside was used instead.

This podcast series on the SAS in Northern Ireland by @Independent and @samkileynews is an SAS Association endorsed, groundbreaking first hand account of the successful campaign of counter-terrorist special operations there. For all those that want to know what was a major factor in bringing the brutal and unconstrained terrorists of the IRA to their knees, forcing them and their southern allies to choose the path of political negotiation with London, this is a vital, fascinating account… …and a story that has never been made public before; and from that time when the UK was resolved and able to defeat domestic terrorism in all its forms, and when its vital NATO allies felt completely safe to operate from its shores.
Sworn to silence for decades, SAS officers tell all about some of the most controversial moments of the deadly IRA conflict Read in full: independent.co.uk/news/uk/po…
