What it’s like to be in healthcare right now:
“We will pay you $2 for that pie”
“But it costs me $4 in pie ingredients and $2 in human labor to make a pie. We need $6 to break even”
“Sorry, we’ll only pay you $2 for that pie. We suggest you make many more pies that you also sell for $2/pie. New requirement is 6 pies/day”
“But then we are still losing $4 per pie. How does making more pies help us?”
“We just found out flour is on shortage so you’ll have to buy more expensive imported flour and will lose $5 per pie. Or you can consider making pies without flour.”
“But I can’t make pies if we keep losing money on pies. And I can’t make pies without flour”
“We suggest you ditch rolling pins and remove any fruit filling as a cost saving measure. And consider limiting how much time you bake the pie for to use less oven time”
“But then how can I even make a pie that resembles a pie?”
“We appreciate the question and have no response. We empower YOU to solve this problem. We have scheduled 4 meetings to discuss how you can make more pies with less ingredients and less oven time and less labor”
“But it seems the root of the problem here is actually that we don’t get reimbursed fairly for our pies…”
“Don’t say that out loud. Please get back to making pies with no filling and no flour and no rolling pins and be sure to attend the meetings.”

One of the hostages rescued on Saturday has revealed he was held alongside fellow hostage Guy Gilboa-Dalal, 22, a few months ago.
According to the rescued hostage, Guy was in good physical condition but was severely physically and mentally abused by Hamas captors. He and the other hostages were not given enough food or water.
I am praying for Guy's speedy release alongside all the remaining 120 hostages 🙏

I had lunch a few weeks ago with a friend who grew up in Israel. And I remember thinking to myself, “Wow. She is aggressively dismissive of public opinion.”
But after the last 72 hours and seeing a heroic rescue of hostages turned into yet another round of, “Hamas are justified in committing any and all war crimes?” The monster holding a woman captive and treating her as a slave for months is being transformed into the Real Victim™, not by strangers, but people I know and respect.
Now, I really understand why she ended up that way.
No matter what Israel does. It is going to be twisted into a narrative that makes them look bad. It is Orwellian and sick and just weird.

The facts about the Israeli airstrike in Rafah and the fire that followed are starting to become clear, and they totally change the story:
◾️ The Israeli airstrike that targeted senior Hamas commanders in Rafah was more than a mile away from the safe zone for Palestinian civilians and more than 550 feet away from shelters Hamas had falsely claimed were targeted in the incident
◾️ The munitions used were the smallest possible: two warheads of 37 lbs each, far smaller than what other Western militaries use in comparable situations
◾️ The munitions could not themselves have ignited a fire of the size that resulted in the deaths of Palestinian civilians, indicating that Hamas weapons stored in or near the targeted structure—of which the IDF was unaware—may have exploded and caused the fire
◾️ Footage of the scene taken by Palestinians and uploaded to social media platforms appears to show secondary explosions, further indicating the presence of weapons in the area
◾️ A phone call within Gaza intercepted by Israeli intelligence contained the admission that the structure targeted by the airstrike served as an ammunition warehouse, that secondary explosions took place, and that the Israeli airstrike wasn't powerful enough to have ignited the fire
◾️ Hamas has been operating from the area since October 7; a rocket launcher used to fire rockets into Israel was located 150 feet from the targeted structure, suggesting that additional weapons were likely stored nearby and may have caused the fire
While none of this makes the heartbreaking results of the fire any less dreadful, it does call into question a lot of the reporting surrounding this tragic incident, which appears to have been based on false information put out by Hamas, rather than the facts on the ground.
You'd think news organizations would learn.
You'd be wrong.

Rachel Goldberg is an unbelievably brave woman, fighting like a lioness for 200 days to free her son from Hamas.
Now, in another brave move, she has given her blessing for you to watch the new hostage video of her son.
Watch it, then help free Hersh:
oneminaday.com/
The Goldberg-Polin family has given permission for the video of their son Hersh, who has been held captive by Hamas for 201 days, to be published and used after it was released by the terror organization Hamas today.
For more than 200 days, 133 hostages have been held captive by Hamas, enduring daily physical, sexual, and psychological torment.
Hersh's cry is the collective cry of all the hostages - their time is rapidly running out. With each passing day, the fear of losing more innocent lives grows stronger.
We cannot afford to waste any more time; the hostages must be the top priority.
All the hostages must be brought home - those alive to begin the process of rehabilitation, and those murdered for a dignified burial.
This distressing video serves as an urgent call to take swift and decisive action to resolve this horrific humanitarian crisis and ensure the safe return of our loved ones. #bringthemhomenow

Read this out loud to your friends and ask them when they think it was written:
"American college students are regularly exposed to bitter denunciations of the State of Israel in a way that most other Americans are not. At hundreds of colleges throughout the nation, students who arrive on campus with pro-Israel leanings are assaulted by a barrage of propaganda which is hostile not only to the policies of a given government of Israel but also to the very right of the Jewish state to exist.
Friends of Israel not familiar with the current situation on campus are often shocked by the scope and intensity of the effort there to discredit the Jewish state. This propaganda campaign is designed to delegitimize the one viable democracy in the Middle East and America's most reliable ally in the region.
Campus newspapers are peppered with vitriolic anti-Israel letters-to-the-editor, commentary pieces and advertisements. Professional anti-Israel propagandists criss-cross the nation to speak before college audiences and organize anti-Israel cadres. Defamatory anti-Israel leaflets, posters and brochures plaster classroom buildings and dormitories and litter campus malls. Anti-Israel information tables, 'teach-ins,' rallies and marches are common features of college life. Resolutions condemning Israel, and challenging university recognition of student groups that declare themselves pro-Israel, are introduced to student and faculty governance boards. Israeli students' clubs have been excluded from international festivals on campus, and American students who support a strong relationship between the United States and Israel are challenged and at times intimidated and harassed.
This effort is an integral part of the much wider attempt to drive a permanent wedge between the United States and Israel."

Why is this never on the US national news? Hmmm
In the last day, 7 barrages of rockets were fired from #Gaza towards southern #Israeli communities. At least 9 rockets were intercepted by Israel's Aerial Defense System (Iron Dome) or exploded in the towns of Sderot, Ashkelon and the area of Netivot. Luckily, no physical injuries were reported.

This is how Shani Louk's family asked for her to be remembered. Smiling and alive.
The biggest photojournalism competition in the world decided to trample on the family's wishes in favor of giving a photo of Shani's mutilated body a prestigious award. She wasn't even named in the caption.
Among the photographers honored is Ali Mahmud, the AP freelancer who came under fire for logging photos during the early hours of October 7th, indicating previous knowledge of Hamas's brutal attack.
Photos showing violence and death can be newsworthy or important when they humanize the dead or galvanize the public. The "winning" photo does neither; it only further dehumanizes Shani, retraumatizes her family, and legitimizes Hamas's actions under the guise of journalistic neutrality.
No one should be rewarded on the backs of murdered women.
Rest in power Shani Louk, we'll remember you as the beautiful soul you were.
