Today is the 1st Day of Saturday voting in Georgia. We continue to see the record midterm turnout as we will cross 10% of Active Voters casting a ballot in a couple of hours. The Early Vote turnout through Day 4 totals 709,785. By Day 4 in 2022 we had seen 520,738. That is a 36.3% increase. In '22 we saw a 56.9% turnout. If we match that we could see 1 in 5 voters for this election having cast their ballot by the end of the weekend.
Georgia voters of both parties and all ages are getting it done.

Who owns public elections—the people or the political parties?
That's the constitutional question at the heart of the amicus brief Open Primaries filed this week with the Oregon Court of Appeals.
Voting is a right of citizenship—not a privilege of party membership.

Again, every contest on every ballot in GA has been reviewed and compared to the election outcomes. Of the 1.11 million ballots cast, there were only 23 discrepancies…all 23 were on hand marked paper. Again showing hand marked is less reliable than Ballot Marking Device ballots.
An audit of all 1.11 million ballots cast in Georgia’s runoff elections found just 23 “discrepancies.” Every one of them involved hand-marked paper ballots. #gapol

📣 It's primary election day in Georgia!
Chris Clark (@cclark_georgia1), President and CEO of Georgia Chamber of Commerce (@GAChamber), is working with May Matters GA to increase voter turnout today.
The Chamber has been working with May Matters to help Georgians understand why primary elections deserve their attention.
"What we've been telling Georgians as we've traveled the state the last few weeks that when you show up to vote in a primary, your vote counts four times what it would count in the general in Georgia, and please go show up and vote in the runoff, because your vote counts 12 times what it counts in November,” Clark said.
Primary voting is not just for political insiders. It is not just for the most ideological voters or the people who already know every race on the ballot. It is for every Georgian who wants a say in the decisions that shape the state. Read more:

Too much democracy philanthropy is optimized for pushing policy—and not enough is optimized for whether government can actually deliver it. Daniel Stid argues for the need to invest in building leadership capacity at the state level where government has the biggest impact on people's lives. ssir.org/articles/entry/phil…

#RankedChoiceVoting rewards candidates who campaign positively for support from all voters.
In primaries from NYC to VA, RCV has helped both major parties pick strong nominees w/ broad support.
It can do the same in the 2028 presidential primaries.

In #WA03, we value independence, know our beliefs don’t always fit in one box, and recognize there’s not a political party that cares about our community like we do.
It's why you shouldn't be denied the right to vote for the candidate of your choice just because you aren't affiliated with a national party.
A healthy democracy also depends on free, fair, and secure elections – and confidence in those elections.
My bipartisan bill will open up access to primary elections while ensuring decisions made for our country are made by citizens of our country.

Good article by the @BrookingsInst on the effectiveness of Ranked Choice Voting.
The two most revealing points to me are: (1) When implemented RCV delivers on the expected results. More civil politics, and elected officials with broader appeal [50%+1 votes] (2) It is opposed by the party in power; whether Dems or Rep because they want to keep the current system because it benefits them. Those in power want to keep power...
Those two points tell you all you need to know about the benefit of RCV!
Lessons learned: RCV implementation has better odds when local community outreach takes the lead. Not led but out of state money / organizations. Voter education is important. (shockers I know)

Every eligible voter should be able to vote for any candidate, regardless of party, in every taxpayer-funded election. Period.
Open, all-candidate primaries give all voters a greater voice in who represents them, forcing politicians to listen to all of their constituents and put country over party to deliver real solutions.

“We always knew it would be an uphill battle,” Troiano said, “but the fact that it got on the ballot in as many states as it did and then won over six and a half million votes from voters in those states, means we've really started a national conversation about what it means to fix our political system at a systemic level.”
