Elena v Cholesteatoma Part III: Medical Misogyny edition (cool / gross photo at the end of the thread).
I had my third surgery on Wednesday (2017, 2019, 2026). I've had awful symptoms for over two years, and symptoms longer than that.
Anyway, I'm glad I stood up for myself, and that my (young, female) GP stood with me. I am going to write her a card and send her chocolate to thank her for believing me when all those male ENTs didn't. My young, female therapist believed me too, as did my sisters and friends.π
After seven months of suffering and multiple CT scans, MRIs, and appts with doctors and my surgeon I've finallyyyy been given a surgery date πππ September 23!
I'm taking leave from work and my PhD in a few weeks. I am nervous, but now also terrified the surgery won't help π
Wanted to submit my PhD before surgery but it doesn't look like that'll happen. Was expecting surgery to be in November/ thesis submission end of November. Scared I'll come out of surgery feeling worse but surely not... Idk how I've gotten through this year so far.
It's meeee.
With the launch of the government's Thriving Kids program only weeks away, concerns are growing and key questions remain unanswered. trib.al/r3FiOUj

It took an hour and 26 bad takes but I recorded an okay 45-second video for the Sat Paper like they asked.
I think I had the confidence to do this today because:

And then he smiled and nodded at the paperwork and said "this is all good". Now I'm worried I heard him wrong the first time lmao. Soz mate I'm deaf.
Anyway thanks @ him for giving me some confidence today.
