I applaud any effort to provide immigration relief, but I sure hope Democrats are not going to waste the next 2 years with half-a** pet projects like extending TPS or some meager protections for DREAMers, etc. for political giggles.
It is time for a #ComprehensiveImmigrationReform that
1. provide Amnesty, yes Amnesty! to long term residents without removability triggering criminal record, add a huge filing fee, back taxes, etc. but provide a path to legalization to deserving people who have resided in the country for a period of 3-5 years. It will be an arbitrary line but you have to draw it somewhere.
2. restore judicial review over immigration matters
3. impose accountability on the immigration agencies
4. remove the visa and country caps
5. modernize the visa and adjustment of status regime
6. revise the definition of "refugee" to comport to the modern day realities
7. mandate and fund the immigration bureaucracy to provide decision on every immigration application or petition within firm time limits such as 1 year applicable to both USCIS and EOIR
8. secure the border

UPDATE—The ICE agent in this video violently attacking a U.S. citizen has been arrested for child sex crimes.
Kent Blacklidge was charged with rape, sexual abuse, and incest involving a juvenile.
His job for ICE was investigating child exploitation cases.
ICE wrestled Alabama worker to the ground & detain him for hours—he is a U.S. citizen.
Young man was begging & shouting, "I am a U.S. citizen"—but that didn't stop ICE agents from dragging him off to a detention center.
Not following due process hurts us all—and our economy.
His family said that ICE agents did release him after he was finally given the opportunity to prove he was a U.S. citizen—but only after many hours.
This construction site in Foley, Alabama was forced to shut down for at least the day. How many other businesses were affected?

If you’re wondering why so many SA survivors don’t report, Amy Acton reported when she was 9-years-old and now it’s being used against her by Vivek Ramaswamy in an attack ad.
That’s why.

I tracked Trump's immigration campaign promises fairly extensively throughout 2024. I do not a recall a single time that his campaign promised to cut legal immigration by half.
PROMISES MADE, PROMISES KEPT.
@NYTimes: 'The Trump administration cut legal immigration in half early this year with policies blocking visas for immigrants from nearly half the globe.'

Maybe the Education Department shouldn’t have made it harder for non MDs to get tuition assistance.
RFK Jr. warns that a nationwide shortage of more than 50,000 nurses has become a healthcare crisis, hitting rural America especially hard.
Now, HHS is taking action to address the shortage and strengthen healthcare in underserved communities.
“Nurses here in Virginia, there is a deficit of 1,700 nurses.”
“Across the country, it’s over 50,000.”
“It is a genuine health crisis, particularly in rural areas.”
“It’s a priority for the president. We’re addressing it.”
“You’re going to hear a series of announcements over the next couple of weeks, but we’re already addressing this through expanded rural residencies and federally qualified health centers.”

DHS raiding a member of congress's home to search for immigration paperwork filled out decades ago by her now-deceased father really checks all the fascist police state boxes.

DHS’s response to allegations that it deported people to be tortured by a despotic regime in Africa far from their homes can be summarized as “So what, they deserve it.”
This is an administration that despises the basic idea of human rights and thinks it’s for suckers.
This poor excuse for a sob story from the @nytimes attempts to bury the fact that these two individuals are CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS with rap sheets a mile long.
DHS is applying the law as written. All illegal aliens, including the two mentioned in this story, receive due process. If a judge finds that an illegal alien has no right to be in this country, we are going to remove them.
The first individual, Samson Tesfay Birhane, a criminal illegal alien from Eritrea, was arrested by ICE on March 17, 2026. Birhane has an extensive criminal history including robbery, armed criminal action, drug possession, selling cocaine, marijuana possession, theft, and credit card fraud. He entered the United States legally but lost his status after receiving a final order of removal on June 16, 2026. He received due process.
The other individual in this story, Ahmed Mahmoud Soliman, a serial criminal illegal alien from Egypt, was arrested by ICE on October 17, 2025. His criminal history includes aggravated assault of a police officer, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, shoplifting, drug possession, synthetic narcotic possession, prescription drug possession, drug paraphernalia, and tampering with evidence. He was issued a final order of removal on October 22, 2025. He received due process.
The Trump Administration is utilizing all lawful options to carry out the largest deportation operation in history, just as President Trump promised.

Today, 350,000 Haitians are likely to lose their legal status — the majority of whom never once violated immigration law.
Nurses, home health aides, teachers, and others face job loss and the threat of deportation to a country so unsafe the US government says "Do Not Travel."
According to agency officials and federal documents, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) plans to ramp up operations to arrest and deport Haitians, as hundreds of thousands of people deal with the end of their Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

I’m tired of people acting like someone’s life matters less because they weren’t an American on paper. He spent 35 years here, raised three American children, and built his life in Houston. He was an American in every way that mattered.

ICE slam man's head against stone wall—send him to hospital with fractured skull.
Man's hands were already behind his back.
Agents then physically assault legal observers—soon as they realize they're caught on video.
Threaten to shoot witnesses with taser—even firing it up.
Agent holds taser sideways "gangster style"—is this proper training?
Man was taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital.
Incident occurred outside the Kane County Judicial Center in the St. Charles suburb of Chicago, Illinois.

The # of Haitians who enriched our culture more than this frigid monster is endless. New Orleans is Mobile without them. Pierre Toussaint financed St. Patrick's Old Cathedral. Basquiat's art. Blake Griffin's oops. Ralph Gilles designed the Chrysler 300. Go back to Ireland @megynkelly.

In George Washington’s time, most states allowed noncitizens to vote in state and local elections and the entire concept of an “illegal immigrant” did not even exist.

Interesting how the administration campaigned on two big things:
- end wars
- remove illegal immigrants
And instead it has
- started a new war
- remove legal immigrants

Adjustment of status is LITERALLY the legal immigration process created by Congress in 1952, and does not bypass anything. In fact, DHS is in better position to vet than DOS.
Yet another Congressperson who doesn't understand what they are talking about.
.@POTUS is closing yet another loophole the left allowed to fester for years.
Coming to the U.S. temporarily was NEVER meant to become a permanent stay.
No longer will this be exploited to bypass the legal immigration process.
Elp retweeted
While adjustment of status is discretionary under INA 245 it has never been interpreted as an extraordinary form of relief and USCIS is inventing a new standard to deprive noncitizens from getting green cards in the US.
This is a radical change to immigration policy, forcing anyone applying for a green card to leave the country indefinitely, forget whether they have American kids, spouse, etc.
The talking point that we do want legal immigration, we just want people to get in line and follow the rules, is BS. This is an attempt to blow up the line, blow up the rules, and make it insanely difficult to immigrate legally.
USCIS is applying long-standing law and prior court decisions to require certain aliens with temporary visas who decide they want to permanently reside in the U.S. to return to their home countries to apply for permanent visas through the @StateDept.
We're returning to the original intent of the law to ensure aliens navigate our nation’s immigration system properly.

The biggest bullshit move by DHS in its history. So everyone on a O1 or H1B visa would have to stop working legally in the US, go back to their country and wait for years of backlog? This includes top scientists in our universities, founders of billion dollar companies (at least 3 just in our portfolio would be affected by the way). And if we look at individual countries it becomes even more bs. Indians would have to wait decades. Russians don’t have anywhere to go (there is no US embassy in Russia, hello?).
This is the worst imaginable way to disrupt important work for the country and pretend you’re fighting some loophole.

The post he's commenting on shows that immigrants represent only 6% of the street homeless, which means that they are 82% less likely to be street homeless than the US-born.
Over HALF of LA’s homeless aren’t even from there. Venezuela? North Korea? Blue cities turn into magnets for global chaos while burying the data. Billions wasted with worsening results.
But remember, @spencerpratt isn't allowed to rebuild his burnt down house.
