At some level I understand Saleh’s decision to ‘assist’ KB because Dr. Kizza Besigye treated Gen. Salim Saleh after he was shot during the bush war.
The incident occurred during the Battle of Bukalabi in February 1983, in the Luwero Triangle. Salim Saleh was shot in both arms and injured around the lower abdomen while commanding NRA fighters against government troops. Besigye treated Saleh’s wounds. The best way that Saleh can pay back now is to command Baguma to follow the law and grant KB bail tomorrow so that Besigye can get treated by his own doctors too.

“When I went to the hospital, I found my friend almost dead in prison. My first action was to take him from the prison to a proper medical centre where he is currently being attended to. It's the same bed I would be in myself if I were under intensive conditions. Besigye was promptly taken to the Joint Clinical Research Centre, which he helped to establish in the early years of the war,” the decorated General revealed.

Army probes Elweru as Gen. Muhoozi strips him of rank amidst UPDF rebel claims
Sources in security alleged that the army was probing reports that Elwelu was mobilising through the defunct Arrow Boys structures and that some of the fighters had been transported to Kampala. The Arrow Boys are a self-defence militia originally formed in 2003 in the Teso sub-region of eastern Uganda to protect local communities from the Lord’s Resistance Army insurgency led by Joseph Kony.
