The Ohio Democratic Party told me I wasn’t allowed to talk to voters—even in the hallway of the hotel. Two aides escorted me back to the gated off press area.
It was the first I had heard of this “rule.”
Idaho voters Tuesday were faced with an advisory question: “What should the state gun be?"
With votes tallied, Idahoans selected the Winchester Model 1873, “Gun that Won the West,” as their favored firearm out of the list of six options.

Despite receiving more than 165K votes, the Winchester Model 1873 isn't guaranteed the honorary distinction.
The advisory q non-binding: Legislators need to pass a law for the designation to become official & can ultimately choose a gun that wasn't listed

Nearly $2 billion bet on this year's elections, even though 32 states ban betting on elections. From @EmmaKinery @StateAffairsUS - pro.stateaffairs.com/us/elec…
Election prediction markets are booming in popularity — nearly $2 billion having been exchanged in trading volume by some estimates — despite the fact that wagering on the outcome of elections is illegal in a majority of states.

Courts are divided over whether prediction market event contracts are considered gambling, but some state election officials have warned voters to abstain from doing so or possibly face legal consequences.

new - A few of Haley Stevens' staff reached out to her earlier this week encouraging her not to endorse Mike Rogers, according to a source who worked on her race
She replied: “Omg why would you think I would do that?!!”
Zach is who you want to read in Michigan right now.
“Something snapped in her. And it snapped in 24 hours,” fmr MI Gov. Blanchard said. “And I don’t know what.”
Insight from insiders into what went down to cause Stevens to endorse Rogers. Read @StateAffairsUS /@GongwerMichigan
I talked to former Gov. Jim Blanchard about an hour ago. He had a unique view of Stevens' last 48 hours, having had dinner with her and her fiance, Jason Turkish, on Friday. You want the details? Here they are, and, trust me, you're going to want to read.

Kalshi sued Missouri in response to a cease-and-desist order AG Hanaway sent last month, alleging no betting license is “realistically available” in the state that fits the prediction market’s unique structure @StateAffairsUS
pro.stateaffairs.com/mo/news…
The company sued Louisiana officials in federal court Friday, bringing the total number of states ensnared in litigation with prediction market operators to 22; Kalshi has filed the first lawsuit in a majority of the states. pro.stateaffairs.com/la/news…
The state in the suit alleges Kalshi has collected between $30.6 million and $61.2 million in fees from wagers in Utah as of Oct. 19, and had made $5.5 million in gambling profits in Utah as of May.
Utah sued Kalshi, calling the prediction market simply gambling by another name and alleging its “brazen pattern of unlawful conduct has inflicted serious harm on the State & its residents.”
UT & HI are the only states where gambling is completely outlawed
