Environment Modules is a super tool to manage your envvars on Unix-Like OS. It is extremely easy to use:
1. set $MODULEPATH or use the default ones
2. Write env files for your programs
3. module load
That's it. Your apps would be good to go. To switch envs, just unload.
In next version (5.5), the ability to log module cmd activity will be available out of the box. This features relies on two config options: logger, command run to transmit messages to the log system, and logged_events, list of event to log. See modules.readthedocs.io/en/la…

It starts with the #shpc software. If you aren't familiar, shpc installs containers as modules (e.g., @EnvModules or #LMOD) so yes, some complex "singularity run --bind" (or more!) gets translated into a module load, and then a "samtools" alias or script is available to you.
