Last night, I used my new @FeelinTheLoveNC Pine Tar soap in the shower for the first time. This led to a blatant realization. After years using body wash (the Lady loves Old Spice); it became brutally apparent that I hadn't really been getting clean. The sensation is wild.

Our entire holiday collection isn't quite ready for prime time. Some of our much-anticipated bars are still curing but these two beauties were added to the website last night: "Pining For Your Love" and "Cabin Fever Love". lovefarmnc.com/collections/h…

You know that unique smell that seems to come with age? You may have gotten a whiff last time you hugged your nanna or hung out with grandpa. It’s a normal phenomenon caused by a compound called 2-nonenal. While water and standard soap often can’t remove it, this bar can. Meet “Elder Love” and learn more about its unique ingredient that leave you smelling fresh as a daisy: lovefarmnc.com/products/elde…

Briliant insights
I have some thoughts on the "marrying your best friend" conversation: I consider my husband my best friend, and we have an extremely interwoven life. Our moods affect one another, and the rhythm of our day-to-day lives is often influenced by how the other person is feeling. My husband is a deeply feeling man. He is steady, but he is also emotionally engaged, and his emotional world occupies just as much space within our marriage as mine does. He is not always the “container” for my emotions, nor would I want him to be. I did not marry a man whose purpose is to remain unaffected by me while accommodating everything I feel. I married a man whose internal world I want to know, experience, and be influenced by, just as he is influenced by mine. That said, a man's internal world can be incredibly difficult for a woman to understand because it can be an incredibly isolating place. Within the mental health community, this level of emotional interdependence is sometimes frowned upon or hastily labeled “codependence.” While I can appreciate the concerns surrounding excessive emotional enmeshment, I also believe we have become far too comfortable pathologizing relational closeness simply because it challenges our cultural obsession with independence. Marrying your best friend can be extraordinarily rewarding, but it is also demanding. It requires a willingness to discuss, adapt, listen, and remain receptive to feedback that is not always favorable. Both people must be capable and willing to do this, every single day. There is considerable discourse, emotional exploration, and intellectual engagement involved in maintaining a relationship where two people are so intimately acquainted with one another's internal worlds. Not every relationship can support this level of integration. Some people lack the capacity, willingness, or emotional accessibility required to navigate it, whether those limitations exist within themselves, their partner, or the relationship between them. And perhaps more importantly, not everyone wants it. Marrying your best friend is a dream I have the privilege of living every day, but it is also extraordinarily intrusive. It means allowing another person access to parts of yourself that many people would prefer to keep private, and accepting that their emotional experiences will inevitably influence your own. I don't believe we should be encouraging everyone toward this kind of marriage any more than we should be discouraging those who thrive within it. There is no singular arrangement of intimacy that every marriage must aspire to. Some people want two relatively independent lives that meet in the middle. Others want two lives so deeply intertwined that the distinction between them becomes difficult to locate. Neither arrangement is inherently superior. But pretending they demand the same things of us is a mistake. It's up to each of us to decide how you want your relationship to look, but two people that want different dynamics will struggle. Be honest with yourselves.

Do you shave?
We've got a lot of requests the past few months to do a shave soap bar...so here it is! Smooth Love is made with beef tallow and castor oil for a dense, lasting lather, while coconut oil helps it build those fluffy shaving cream peaks. Kokum butter and shea butter add richness to the bar, and vegetable glycerin helps draw moisture away from the skin. Perfect for anyone who shaves their face, legs, and everything in between. Last week, I received an email that made my heart drop. One of my first horses, Dark Energy, had been rescued from a kill pen. After an injury that we rehabbed, we rehomed him with a family who agreed to contact us if they could no longer care for him. That never happened. There is no softening what happened to him. Dark Energy was once a gorgeous, healthy black butterball. Today, he is severely emaciated. Seeing him in this condition is heartbreaking and infuriating. We immediately made a substantial donation toward his recovery and sent a care package of stomach medications to help get him comfortable and feeling better. I am incredibly grateful to Kirby at Rios Refuge for finding him, pulling him from the kill pen and giving him another chance. Rios Refuge is a new rescue, and they need support. If you feel it in your heart to help, please visit riosrefuge.org. Dark Energy deserved better, and now he has people fighting for him.

The Holy Father's intentions for every month in 2026 read like they were written by the UN. Little to do with the salvation of souls, and hard to pray seriously.

Drought and two months of zero moisture have destroyed our pastures. We have caked and hayed more this month than at any time since my childhood, draining our reserves. Tonight they are so hungry.,, we will spend every last dime to feed them. No one understands the work, the fight, the dependence on Mother Nature. Drought plus double diesel creates a black hole of endless expense … but we will fight on. No cheerleaders, as few that buy at the store or consume really understand the true cost, but that doesn’t matter. We fight for independence, freedom, real nature, real nourishment, free of corporate manipulation and marketing, and a way of life that matters more to me and mine than any check. We love and honor and fight for the animals we raise to ensure their lives are filled with freedom in pasture, that they matter and never experience the suffering or harm of feedlots or corporate processors. We respect the circle of life. Do you? Does the place you buy your beef? It matters.

This heifer lost weight quickly over 2 months, following her third calf. We lost her. Lab report simply said a thickened ilium was found, suggesting enteritis. Vet said he's still stumped. Any cow people out there seen this? Low groaning, spitting out half-chewed grain & grass.
