Last year, on July 5th, 2025, my GoDaddy website was reactivated. I didn't really do anything to overhaul it except use AI to rewrite all the text content, and it's abysmal. This year, I will attempt to fix it and maybe sell stuff or something ๐ค

Frankenstein (1931)
James Whale directed it. Boris Karloff plays the Creature. Colin Clive is Henry Frankenstein. The picture does not treat the creation as a triumph. It treats it as a birth that was never given a chance to finish. The Monster is assembled from parts and abandoned to the world that will not claim him. He learns the name of fire. He learns the cost of the village. He does not learn why he was made.
The tragedy is not the murders. It is the moment the Creature understands that he was not wanted. Karloff keeps the face still. The hands do the rest. Whale does not offer a consolation. The fire at the end is not a victory. It is the only arrangement the village could accept. That is the part that remains.

Pretty much ready for the first session of "Dark Magic in New Orleans" tomorrow night from Dungeon Magazine 71 (Nov.-Dec. 1998). Anyone ever run this one?

It's late October again. I started playing Advanced Dungeons & Dragons around this time in 1988.
Still playing TSR AD&D D&D like a rabid 15yo... Anyone around to play? โ at Ormond Beach, FL

Waller Keep, still stained in blood after the Catastrophy, stands perfectly erect and unoccupied as scores of souls haunt the castle.
AD&D D&D Adventure: Stronghold Bequeathed, your newly minted 9th level fighter has gained a keep, if you all can take it!

A team of RPG designers has unveiled new firearm rules featuring constant jams, painfully slow reloads, and pistols that somehow do less damage than a bow.
โGuns are notoriously unreliable,โ said the lead designer, who has never actually fired one. โWe did a lot of research. Mostly movies and video games.โ
During playtesting, a gun owner mentioned he'd fired thousands of rounds without a single malfunction. The designers told him that didn't count.
He then asked whether archers would have to roll for broken bowstrings and damaged arrows.
โOf course not,โ replied the designer. โThis is a fantasy game. We have dragons, fireballs, and flying castles. A gun that actually works would just be ridiculous.โ
The designers later reported that their firearm rules had been a tremendous success. Even players who wanted guns in fantasy had stopped using them.

This is what happens when Call of Cthulhu horror starts creeping into Oerth.
In Dragon #138 (October 1988), Tom Moldvay introduced the spirit-ghoul.
Looks like a ghoul. Attacks like a ghoul. Even has that nasty paralyzing touch.
Except thereโs a problem.
Itโs not undead.
Itโs a living person possessed by a demon.
And the really awful part? You can actually SAVE these poor souls through exorcism.
Imagine your party figuring that out AFTER hacking half a dozen of them to pieces.
Good grief, Tom, thatโs some dark stuffโฆ
And I absolutely love it.
