📺 CANADIAN TV MEMORY THE HILARIOUS HOUSE OF FRIGHTENSTEIN If you grew up watching Canadian television in the 1970s or 1980s, chances are Castle Frightenstein left an impression on you. Produced by CHCH-TV in Hamilton in 1971, The Hilarious House of Frightenstein mixed comedy, monsters, music, puppets and educational bits into one of the strangest — and most memorable — children’s shows Canadian television ever produced. At the centre of it all was the incredibly versatile Billy Van, who played a remarkable collection of characters, including Count Frightenstein, The Wolfman, Grizelda the Ghastly Gourmet, The Librarian, Dr. Pet Vet and several others. And then there was Vincent Price, whose wonderfully spooky appearances gave the show an extra touch of genuine horror-movie magic. Amazingly, 130 episodes were produced, and the show developed a cult following that lasted long after its original run. There really wasn’t anything else quite like it. Part horror spoof, part variety show, part educational program — and completely unforgettable. Did you watch The Hilarious House of Frightenstein? Which character or segment do you remember most? And if you have any old clips, post them in the replies — I’d love to see them. #CanadianTV #Frightenstein #Canadiana
