We're proud to announce the official opening of the Exeter Youth Hub at St James Park - a new space designed to help young people in Exeter find jobs, training and opportunities.
More than one in eight 16- to 24-year-olds across the UK are not in education, employment or training (NEET). To help address this, the Hub brings employment support, wellbeing advice and specialist services together under one roof at the home of Exeter City Football Club.
Funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) delivered by Exeter City Community Trust in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, the Hub supports 16- to 24-year-olds via referrals.
It is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, offering one-to-one appointments, group workshops, drop-in sessions, employer engagement and personalised action planning.
Young people can also access advice on mental health, wellbeing, housing and training. We provide ongoing support during the first 12 weeks of employment to help them settle in and sustain progress, with a goal of supporting at least 150 young people.
ECCT Inclusion Lead, Laura Evans, said: “We’re delighted to have officially opened the Youth Hub here at St James Park. Being in a non-institutional space that many of our young people know well through football has already made a dramatic difference in how they engage with the services.
”One of our early successes is Alastair Swain, 24. After a year of unsuccessful applications, tailored support with his CV and job searching helped him secure part-time work at Nando’s. He is now planning to volunteer with us ahead of joining the police force on their graduate scheme."
The Hub was officially opened on Friday 9 October, with partners including representatives from the Football Club and Supporters' Trust, Bindu Arjoon, Chief Executive of Exeter City Council, and Exeter MP Steve Race in attendance.
We’re excited to be working Jobcentre Plus and all project partners over the coming year to create real opportunities for young people in Exeter. If you’re aged 16–24 and looking for support, speak to your Jobcentre Plus advisor about a referral.

A day at Nando’s! 🍗❤️
As part of the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme, we recently took a group of children along to Nando's Exeter for a day of learning, fun and plenty of delicious food!
From making their own burgers to learning more about Nando’s and how they support local communities, it was a fantastic experience for everyone involved.
A huge **thank you to Nando’s Exeter** for welcoming us and giving the children such a brilliant experience, and to **Devon County Council** for funding the Holiday Activities and Food Programme, which enables us to provide enriching activities like this for children and young people across Devon. ❤️

We're delighted to confirm that work will begin on Monday, August 17 on the first phase of a major improvement project at King George V Playing Fields in Exeter.
The project is supported by almost £2 million from the Premier League, The FA and Government's Football Foundation, £464,948 via section 106 contributions from Exeter City Council, and investment from the charity itself.
Phase one will include a new 3G pitch, two Football Foundation PlayZones, parking improvements, and a refurbished pavilion with accessible changing rooms and community-use rooms.
The accessible play area and all pathways will remain open throughout construction, with work expected to be completed by spring 2027.
A second phase - including Padel courts, a community café, woodland trails and further pitch improvements - is also planned.
This is a significant investment in the future of our community in Exeter, and a project we are enormously proud to be delivering.

As another season comes to a close, we would like to take a moment to recognise and thank our U14 players who now reach the end of their journey within our Advanced Development Centre programme.
Over the years, this group has represented the ADC programme brilliantly. They have consistently embraced challenges, tested themselves against strong opposition, competed with academy players, achieved victories in fixtures and tournaments, and created memories through experiences such as playing at St James Park.
To each and every player, thank you for your effort, commitment, and dedication to your development over the years. It has been a privilege to be a part of your footballing journey and to watch you grow as both players and young people.
A special thank you must also go to the parents and guardians who have supported this group throughout their time with us.
You have played a huge role in creating these experiences. We are incredibly grateful for the trust you have placed in us and for the support you have shown the programme over the years.
We wish all of our players and families every success for the future, both on and off the pitch.
@ReeganScotcher - ADC Programme Development Officer

An honour to welcome John Shiels to @OfficialECFC this week as part of the Sir Bobby Charlton Beautiful Game Tour.
The tour is an extraordinary journey of 1500 miles where John and his team are cycling to all 92 professional football clubs across the UK.
John will use the information gained on tour to lobby Government and the game’s decision-makers to address the needs of our children, raising awareness of the increasing lack of free, safe spaces for children to play.
At the same time, he’s raising crucial funds for the Sir Bobby Charlton Foundation, inspired by Sir Bobby’s lifelong love of the beautiful game and its power to change lives. The funds raised will go towards providing access for more children to enjoy free football, safe places to play and trusted adults to support them.
Like Exeter City Community Trust, and all Football Club Charities across the country, Sir Bobby was a passionate advocate for children to be able to play - to learn not just football skills, but life, team, leadership, and social skills.
Click the link below to follow John’s journey, support the cause, and help him, Fergy, Bren, Joe and Higgo to champion the role of football in changing the lives of children.
