The 2nd most populous city in Italy hosted a pilot project using e-cargo bikes instead of vans, and found the companies reduced delivery times 23% and reduced operating costs 40%. Not bad, huh.

It’s not the scrapes, bumps and bruises from risky play that most parents are concerned about. It’s the very real danger of being hit and killed by a car. That’s what’s stopping children from having the freedom, adventure and free play they once had (and still need).
Before the 1990s, kids experienced more risk, more thrills, more physical injuries, and fewer psychological injuries than they do today. Kids had more freedom to make mistakes and learn from them. We have forgotten that kids are antifragile.

Sports minister @Steph_Peacock "Kids, take inspiration from Olympic & Paralympic athletes & be more active!" Why restrict activity to sports? Safe streets around homes & schools would enable kids to walk or cycle instead of being confined in cars... standard.co.uk/news/politics…

You can also sign the petition in favour of the changes. It takes a couple of minutes and will really help to show councillors that the plan to improve public transport has support. democracy.devon.gov.uk/mgEPe…

– Faster and more reliable buses encourage people out of their cars and reduce congestion and pollution. - Positive effect on emergency vehicle response times. - Gives a cheaper option than driving, and favours those who can't afford to run a car, during a cost-of-living crisis

Excuse our cheesy editing skills but our #schoolstreet is bringing so much joy. A school run without cars is a truly happy place. Generations before us had this. @RezinaChowdhury is restoring it for Lambeth kids. #saferoutes #cleanair

It's the 8th of October and we've put 834 bikes back into use in 2024. We've nearly put the same number of bikes back into use as we did in the whole of 2023. With a fair wind, we'll break 7000 bikes saved since the charity was formed. Thanks to everyone for your bike donations!

There's talk of Exeter's old bus station being turned into a bigger park for... more cars... #Exeter, I know we can think of a better use of this space! I'm going to start a slow-burn thread of possibilities by mashing together some aerial images. 🧵/1

Tap in/out should be top priority. It's fairly cheap, but makes a world of difference. Luckily many Exeter cllrs have an opportunity to make another world of difference for buses through bus priority infra. I hope you are encouraging your colleagues to vote in favour of these.

As I spoke about in committee, I struggled to reconcile the limited data we were presented with against the negative narrative. It makes me so sad that the trial wasn't allowed to run its course to allow for meaningful data to be collected at all times of year / season
1/ Devon County Council has continued to release data from the whole period of the Active Streets Trial in Exeter. Three months after the Trail was suspended. This is data Cllrs never saw.

Sadly @exeterlabour hid from view during the Active Streets Trial when it was time to lead, explain and bring people along. In suspending it, they set what should be one of the most healthy and forward-thinking cities in the country back years.
