If there’s any doubt, Ethiopia’s ongoing military preparedness and stockpiling likely target an external, larger-scale 'enemy', not a domestic one like the TPLF.
What’s surprising is that Russia is a significant partner to both Eritrea and Egypt, with Eritrea relying heavily on Russia for much of its diplomatic pushback against the West. This also comes amid Russia’s promise to mediate between Ethiopia and #Eritrea, potentially in Moscow during the Russia-Africa summit when both leaders are expected to be there.
That may not sit well with Asmara, which was among the few countries to publicly defend Russia following its invasion of Ukraine.

These Sukhoi Su-35SE multirole fighter jets, originally ordered and manufactured for Egypt, continue to find new customers. Iran had also intended to procure them but cancelled its plans.
The Ethiopian Air Force has now officially taken delivery of 12 of these aircraft and is also set to purchase four batteries of S-400 long-range air defence systems from Russia.

هذا ليس مستغرب في سياسة روسيا تجاه افريقيا، موسكو منعت مع الصين المطالب المصرية بتدخل مجلس الأمن بالأمم المتحدة لحسم ملف السد الاثيوبي، وترى موسكو ان أي حضور لها في افريقيا لا يمكن ان يتجاهل القرن الافريقي واثيوبيا من القلب منه. عمومًا لا تضع روسيا وزن كبير لمصالح شمال افريقيا لصالح الداخل الافريقي، كما نرى سياستها تصادمية مع العرب ككل في عدة ملفات يطول شرحها هنا ولكن تضم إيران والميليشيات في المنطقة وشهية القواعد العسكرية لها في المتوسط والاحمر. ولكن هذا في السياسة لا يعيب موسكو فهي غير مسؤولة عن تخيلات الآخرين عنها وعاطفتهم الرومانسية الجاهلة.
