Two very educational presentations from @ExternProbGam that highlighted the high rate of problem gambling in NI and the lack of services available for those suffering harm from gambling. This is a huge issue that affects many people in our communities.
Today the APG met to hear a briefing from Claire Donegan and Barry Grant from @ExternProbGam on the organisation's important work and what it is doing to support people experiencing gambling-related harms.

Brilliant to be back at @GlenartCollege this week to speak to their TY students. It was my 4th time visiting the school, and great that this visit/Workshop was funded by a project between @ExternProbGam & the Bray Local Drug & Alcohol Task Force/HSE Social Inclusion.

Very concerning stats from Northern Ireland yesterday when the 2024 figures were published showing 3% of the population are gambling problematically. A public health approach in NI and adequate treatment and prevention measures are urgent.
Shocking, but not surprising, new stats from Northern Ireland. Nearly 1 in 33 adults meet the criteria for problem gambling. Very similar to ROI (1 in 30).
