New season, new kit. Each year, every club, every first team, every academy order new kit. Not just a new training top, but we're talking about a whole new wardrobe. T-shirts, shorts, tracksuit bottoms, jackets, socks, coats and hoodies. Is this sustainable?
As an example, academy staff typically get 5 x socks, 3 x shorts, 3 x tracksuit bottoms, 3 x T shirts, 1 x hoodie, 2 x 3/4 zip, 1 x rain coat, 1 jacket, 1 winter coat. Academy players are given similar amounts of new kit. Is this necessary every year?
Three new shirts, every year. Millions of fans across the world buying these short lived kits. What is the impact, environmentally and economically, of producing and distributing these kits for every new season? #football #premierleague #sustainablefashion
Artificial grass pitches use a rubber crumb infill, the type we're all familiar with, the crumbs that get stuck in socks, clothes, pockets and end up in our rivers and oceans eventually.
What is an alternative to this?
Norway have quite a few pitches with a cork infill instead.
Cork is a natural and environmentally friendly material. However, there are downfalls. Cork is not a reliable material in extreme weather conditions! Must be a better solution somewhere?

Replying to @LondonStadium
@LondonStadium banned reusable water bottles and thermoflasks on Thursday. Instead, supporters were asked to empty bottles into plastic cups. Thankfully since then, they've decided to allow reusable water bottles again. Hopefully this won't change!

A great example of reducing plastic waste. Why are these not available at more stadiums?
💧 Fans in all four stands can access these @WaterCoolersUK hydration stations on matchday, with re-usable bottles available for £5 from the Club Shop.
See you on Saturday, FGR fans 👋

Replying to @SouthamptonFC
@SouthamptonFC deemed it necessary to fly to Leicester ahead of today's match. At what point do we justify flying?
In contrast to this, @LFC travelled by train to play Fulham recently. A longer journey (220 miles) than Southampton to Leicester (147 miles).
