Unpaid therapist. Family fixer. Second mom. Eldest daughter.
This page is your diary now 🤍
Eldest daughters are either planning for a future that hasn’t happened yet or recovering from a past that already did. 😭
Eldest daughters will complain about having too much to do, then volunteer to do one more thing.
Like what is wrong with us😂😂
Eldest daughters are two different people depending on who’s telling the story. 😭
Your family thinks you’re the serious one. Your friends are wondering how these two versions of you share one body.
🧵
Your family thinks you’re too serious to be easily embarrassed.
Your friends have enough screenshots, videos and stories to end your entire public image.
And they have absolutely no respect for your reputation
At home, everybody thinks you have the solution to everything.
With your friends, you’re sending voice notes that start with “BABE, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I’M DOING.”
AND SOMEHOW THEY STILL COME TO YOU FOR ADVICE.
At home: “Please, let’s be reasonable about this.”
With your friends: “GIRL, ARE YOU ACTUALLY MAD? 😭😭😭”
Same mouth. Completely different customer service package.
Your family describes you as mature, responsible and always minding your business.
YOUR FRIENDS HAVE SEEN YOU CRY OVER A SONG, LAUGH UNTIL YOU CAN’T BREATHE AND MAKE A WHOLE SCENE OVER FOOD. 😭
One thing about an eldest daughter?
Don’t tell her how to do something she’s already doing. She’ll lose the will to cooperate. 😭
An eldest daughter’s idea of relaxing is finishing everything she needs to do so she can finally relax. 😭
Eldest daughters don’t always keep things to themselves by choice. Sometimes, you get so used to handling things alone that not mentioning them absolutely feels so normal and the right thing to do
And Sometimes, We’ve just spent so long being the person who figures things out that we don’t know how to be the person who needs help.

If you could make your family understand one thing about you without having to explain it, what would it be?
The eldest daughter’s pride is on another level. We’d rather go and get a whole degree in private before asking you ONE question. 😭
It’s like we’re allergic to looking stupid/ confused.
🧵
We don’t even like learning new things in public.
Imagine making a mistake while someone is watching you learn?
Suddenly, the activity is cancelled, your whole personality is under review, and you need to go home and practise in private.
The most dangerous sentence you can say to an eldest daughter is:
“Do you need help?”
Now why would you ask her that in front of witnesses? 😭
She’ll rather struggle for another 45 minutes than let you know you caught her lacking.
She will research a topic so thoroughly that she knows the history, the alternatives, the common mistakes and three things you didn’t ask.
Then, when someone asks if she needs help, she says, “No, I’ve figured it out.”
GIRL, YOU STARTED LEARNING THIS 45 MINUTES AGO. 😭
Someone starts explaining something to her and she immediately says, “Yeah, I know.”
She does NOT know.
But now she has to learn it in private because admitting ignorance in public would be a personal attack.
