A vertical lumber factory growing inside a single trunk.
This isn’t a forest. It’s one centuries-old organism engineered to clone its own canopy.
Developed in 14th-century Kitayama, near Kyoto, the Japanese technique of daisugi (platform cedar) skips the axe. Arborists heavily prune a living mother cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) so its top branches shoot upward into perfectly straight, knot-free poles.
Every 20 years those poles can be harvested as premium architectural timber denser and more flexible than ordinary cedar while the root system and base remain untouched. The same tree keeps producing for centuries.
Sustainable forestry, perfected 600 years ago.

🇺🇸 Pete Hegseth just got absolutely humiliated by Senator Tammy Duckworth!
Senator Tammy Duckworth, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel who lost both legs while serving in Iraq, challenged Hegseth:
"I'm glad you brought that up. Can you name a single country that belongs to ASEAN and explain what agreement we have with it? And, by the way, how many countries are in ASEAN? Frankly, I'm not sure you even know who our allies are."
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth:
"Well, I can't give you the exact number, but I certainly know our allies in South Korea, Japan, and Australia..."
Senator Duckworth:
"None of the countries you just mentioned are members of ASEAN. I suggest you do your homework before engaging in these discussions."
And this is the kind of clueless bullshit running the Pentagon. Absolutely unbelievable.

The Fosse Way, a major ancient Roman road in Britain that runs diagonally from Exeter in the southwest to Lincoln in the northeast....
Romans laid out this 182 mile road in an almost perfectly straight line. Shortly after invading Britain in AD 43, Roman surveyors charted a remarkably direct route across the landscape.
What makes it extraordinary is its precision: along the 182 mile stretch between Lincoln and Ilchester, the road never strays more than six miles from a perfectly straight line, cutting through Leicester, Cirencester, and Bath while steadily forging across hills and rivers.
Taking its name from fossa, the Latin word for ditch, the road was used as the frontier marker of Roman territory during the early decades of the occupation. Incredible.
Beyond this line lay untamed lands outside Rome’s control.
Today, much of this ancient highway remains beneath modern asphalt. Major routes like the A46 (Lincoln to Leicester), the A429 (into Cirencester), and the A37 (towards Ilchester) follow its exact path—meaning if you've traveled near Newark, Stow, or Shepton Mallet, you’ve likely driven along a 2,000-year-old Roman road without realizing it.
