HEBRON IS UNDER SIEGE. FAMILIES ARE LOSING THEIR HOMES.
Since yesterday, at least 250 families have been displaced in Hebron, including my own sister, Hayat, and her seven children. Homes and shops are being demolished by the Israeli military.
Around 250,000 people are trapped in the city, while 1,000 families in H2 remain in their homes.
We are being collectively punished for something we neither did nor supported. Our suffering is being turned into political material for Israel’s elections, while innocent families pay the price.

B’Tselem urgently calls on governments and international institutions to act now, using all means available under international law, to prevent the forcible displacement of Palestinian civilians, collective punishment and extensive unlawful destruction in Hebron. Israeli leaders are openly declaring their intentions, and actions on the ground have already begun.
Following the shooting near Hebron on 23 October, in which two Israeli soldiers were killed, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz openly announced plans to forcibly displace Palestinian residents and carry out extensive destruction in the area.
In a statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared: “We will apply in the cities the successful offensive model we implemented in the refugee camps.”
That same model has already displaced more than 33,000 Palestinians in the northern West Bank. Now, Israeli leaders are threatening to bring the same mass displacement and destruction to Hebron.
Implementation has already begun. Israeli forces imposed a cordon on Hebron and Halhul, while the Civil Administration began demolishing Palestinian structures in the neighborhood of Farsh al-Hawa. At the same time, Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced the establishment of four new settlement farming outposts in the South Hebron Hills.
Israeli leaders are openly announcing plans for collective punishment and acts that could constitute war crimes. These plans echo Israel’s devastating operations as part of the genocide in Gaza and mark a further escalation of its ongoing campaign of ethnic cleansing as part of the Elimination Project in the West Bank: the systematic dismantling of Palestinian collective life while expanding settlements and entrenching permanent Israeli control.
The world cannot stand by as Israel continues its assault on Palestinians, waiting for yet more neighborhoods to be emptied and erased before intervening, despite what we have already witnessed in Gaza and the northern West Bank. Governments and international bodies must act now to prevent these crimes and protect Palestinian civilians.

***** UPDATE: Issa was released after being detained blindfolded and handcuffed behind his back and badly treated for 7 hours in a military base. The charge: got too close to a settlement. Shit. But he is out and ok. ****

Six hours have passed and @Issaamro has not been brought to a police station or given his right to call his lawyer.
Grave concern, knowing the military practices against Pal activists and HR defenders.
We demand to know where Issa is and the grounds for his detention!

The #UNGA81 decision to allow President Abbas to speak remotely is welcome.
But precedent is more exacting: in 1988, when the US barred PLO Chairperson Arafat, the Assembly moved its Palestine debate to Geneva.
Netanyahu, at large under an ICC arrest warrant for war crimes and crimes against humanity, will meanwhile be received in New York.

With new focus/energy around sanctioning West Bank settlements, electeds like Randy Fine & Sarah Huckabee are giddy to remind the world that many US states have passed laws turning state residents/businesses into economic human shields for the Greater Israel enterprise!

Love it or hate it, but let's at least be honest about what HR 4795 - the Orwellian-named "Protect Economic & Academic Freedom Act of 2026" [more rightly called the "Protect & Promote Israel/Settlements At the Expense of US Education & Free Speech Act"] is/does:
4 key points 🧵

The House just passed HR 4795; vote was 237-169. 33 Dems voted YES. 2 GOP voted NO. The road to erasing US right to free speech/protest of ANYTHING in the US is quite literally being paved with laws to protect/promote Greater Israel/Israeli impunity.
